A few I've really liked...

I will second (or third) Fargo. Both seasons are really good. Also, Game of Thrones, if you haven't watched that. Sherlock is pretty good, too.

If you like comedies and haven't seen it, start with season 2 of Parks and Rec and thank me later. It might be the funniest show ever made. I've watched it all the way through twice now and still will randomly throw on an episode from time to time.
Another comedy that I really like is Psych. It's a humorous mystery/detective series that I wish were still on the air.

If you like British shows at all, try The IT Crowd. It's a bit silly but the characters are hilarious, especially Moss. And like most British shows, the seasons are only like six episodes long.

Finally, if you like superheroes, try The Flash. It's probably my favorite show on TV right now and the only one I actually watch live.

Mozart in the Jungle on Amazon hasn't been mentioned. Only 10 half hour shows per season so a quick watch.

Here's 3 comedies I haven't seen listed. Had my doubt about them at first. They grew on me the more I watched. Blue Mountain State, It's always Sunny, and Trailer Park Boys.

Most of these are on Netflix or HBO GO:

Peep Show - UK comedy that finished its last season in 2015. One of my all time favorites. Took a few of episodes to really start getting accustomed to the style of the show, but to this day, it makes laugh as much or more than anything I've ever seen. I have nothing to compare it to. It's just freaking hilarious.

Spaced - UK comedy from the late 1990s by the guys who did Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead (Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright). If you liked either of those movies, you should enjoy Spaced. It's funny, clever, and well done.

The Wire - It's as good as everyone says it is.

Twin Peaks - First season is amazing. Goofy, dark, campy, surreal, and suspenseful show about a strange murder in a small town, and all in a well-produced package that really presaged a lot of what's been happening in television over the past decade or so. The second season starts well, but unfortunately descends into crapitude by mid-season.

Undeclared and Freaks & Geeks - The original Judd Apatow series. Both are great, and both lasted only one season. If an actor's been in a Judd Apatow movie (for better or worse), chances are they were in one or both of those shows.

Fresh Meat - UK comedy that's still going on. Season 1 is on Netflix. Really, really funny show about college roommates.

Game of Thrones - Haven't read the books, but I really enjoy the show. Violent, graphic, obscene, funny, well-produced, gripping, etc. Solid show to binge on.

Mad Men - I think the quality of the series faltered a little toward the end, but on the whole, it was solid stuff. As a bonus, the show will give you healthy doses of Christina Hendricks.

ETA: Sherlock - Saw that someone else mentioned it, and I'll second their rec. The "episodes" are essentially 90-minute movies that mostly re-create some classic Sherlock Holmes mystery in contemporary London. Produced and acted as well or better than any other show I can think of.

I'm surprised Dexter took so long to be mentioned and has not been mentioned more often. Language is strong but the wife and I are hooked!

Skipped the previous replies... WENTWORTH! (few others in post)

But my top show I would suggest right now is WENTWORTH.

On netflix. It's an Australian show about a women's prison. Think Prison Break mixed with some Orange is the New Black among a few other things. Great show. Every single person I've gotten to watch is LOVES it.

Colony just started, and it's great so far. I'm really interested in it.

I also just finished Peaky Blinders and it's AMAZING. 2 seasons on Netflix so far. Easy to watch. 6 episodes per season, great show.

Longmire is a good one in my opinion also.

Dexter started losing my interest towards the end. Season 2 was probably my favorite.

Stop what you're doing and start Daredevil (not the movie). Also, Pinky Blinders is a good watch. Game of Thrones is good for the first three seasons. I'm in the middle of Fargo S1 at the moment.

Justified---except for the last season.

The Americans.

X-Files, only 6 episodes and I heard that Gillian Anderson is pissed that she is making way less than "Mulder" so it might not last too much longer.
