Figured football board gets the most traffic. As fyi appears Gulliver's on Howard soon closing. Still currently open but in process of selling all their chotskies. If you're local and want one last trip better hurry....

Wow, I spent 7 years on campus two to three decades ago and I never even heard of this place. Only place down that way that I ever went to was PM Club and the Deuce.

Great place for pizza and beer before the end of the Dry Ages. I especially enjoyed the maritime themed motifs they featured everywhere when I ate there as a kid.
With so much pizza competition - both low and high end - I often wondered how they survived all these years in that location: establishments like Biddy Mulligans and Queens Liquor Store mostly vanished upon the passing of Frances Willard's legacy.
No. Biddy Mulligan’s did not vanish.
Queens, I don’t know about, but there was Jarvis Liquors and Foremost Liquors.
Wow. I had no idea it brought in such great musicians. I lived across the street from Biddy's in the mid 70's and could listen to the music pretty well when I opened my apartment windows. The music was generally good to hear, but the street noise after midnight could get pretty annoying for those who wanted to sleep.Biddy Mulligans died a long, slow death, but it did, in fact, vanish:

Queens Liquors operated not far from Gullivers on Howard Street, catering mostly to the underage crowd (i.e., high school aged kids from Evanston).
With regards to other Loyola area bars, Pumping Company recently closed.
Only went to Oasis and Hamilton's. Never heard of Pumping Company.
Gulliver's was a fun place for pizza and beers, but I am one of the few guys who preferred the Big Pickle - good burgers and great fries. We cannot forget The Inferno and Yesterday's, though the latter always smelled like cleaning fluid and too many middle-aged Evanstonians ate there. It improved in the late '80s and '90s. Biddy's was great for live music when we did not want to make the hike down to the blues joints on Lincoln Ave. Good memories all.Great place for pizza and beer before the end of the Dry Ages. There's still one in Oakbrook Terrace as far as I know. I'm not sure if they'll be closing too, and it's about ten years since I ate there last.Figured football board gets the most traffic. Heard the Davis St. Fish Market closed some time ago - really liked their seafood stew.
