I like them. I mean Hell, Zeppelin's not making any new music so I like songs that remind me of them.
There's plenty of Zeppelin music out there. If you're listening to so much Led Zeppelin that you're getting tired of it and want new stuff, then ok I guess, listen to a knock off. Otherwise there's no good reason for GVF when you could have the real thing.
Also I saw an interview where dude said he wasnt trying to sound like Plant. That just annoyed me because, c'mon...

I wasn't aware Tool was still making music. I will be checking this out for sure.

Re: Seeing them live. I passed on seeing the Avetts at Thalia Mara a couple years ago largely because I didn't like their music on Spotify. A friend invited to their show at Brandon last month and I told her my concerns and she'd said that their last couple albums were overproduced. And well, the Avetts are a good live band. I'd see them again and see if I can check on their early albums-- I might have to look at Amazon Prime to see if they have early albums available there.

Funny, just saw them live last week and new album being released in August. They have been absent for awhile but are back to the same level.
After 13 years, the new **** better be the Metal edition of Trout Mask Replica. I haven't heard any of the new songs but I read a lot of it is experimental 7/8 compositions. Would be awesome if true. I just dont want to have waited 5,000 days for a 10,000 days rehash.
Yes. Looking forward to seeing them in Brandon at the end of July. Tedeschi Trucks, Blackberry Smoke, and Shovels & Rope is a great lineup.

I was at the Lucero family block party a few weeks ago. Storms caused everything to move inside. Charlie from Blackberry Smoke came out and blew the crowd away. Just him with his acoustic.
GVF isn’t bad. I’m for any young kids actually playing rock music instead of all that auto tune crap they call music now.

Jambi, Vicarious, Right in Two, and Rosetta Stoned were all very good songs, but the album overall was not as solid as the others.
Not saying it is bad. It isnt a glam metal masterpiece like Lateralus or a grunge metal masterpiece like Aenima, but it was a good effort. When I say I dont want a rehash of it that doesnt mean I want a rehash of the others either. After this long I'm ready for something completely different that pushes metal as far as it will go, i.e. a metal Trout Mask Replica.

Youre right that glam is not the right word, but it's the word that came to me when contrasting it with Undertow and Aenima. Perhaps I should've just said it's the tightest and most excellently produced metal album I've heard. I would like to know what word you would use to describe it in contrast with Undertow/Aenima.

With Lateralus, MJK takes all of his weird characters, noises and hauntings into the body of a being. As the album progresses, so does my heart rate. It’s truly an album in which you mustn’t skip a single song. All or nothing. I’d love to read some of yalls depictions of the lyrics but I suppose we can save that for another thread.
