We're going to have to disagree. I believe "minute of man" is a tongue-in-cheek sarcastic play on words of how INaccurate the M16 was. "Minute of angle" is 1" at 100 yards; "minute of man" is something like 6".
In fact, current military acceptable tolerance is 5.6" at 100 yards for its M4.
Now, you can certainly upgrade to barrels and uppers which will get you where you want to be. I realize that they have marksmanship competitions with them, and many are super accurate.
I agree with the play on words that's why I put minute of man in quotes. My only point was that in general ARs are not inaccurate even though unfortunately many people believe that. But to be fair you and I could define accuracy completely differently. If you fire your deer rifle from a bench and are constantly shooting .5 MOA then your definition of accurate is probably different from mine because I am not a target shooter so I can see your point there.

I've got a couple ARs that will shoot .5 MOA at a hundred yards. My nearly bone stock M1A Scout will hold about 1.25 MOA with Match ammo. The vast majority of accuracy complaints in regards to AR-15s come from people using crap ammo and expecting match results. If you are running Lake City or Tulammo bulk crap through your AR you are doing it a disservice in regards to accuracy.

Tula and Wolf shoot mighty fine out of my Sks's and Ak's..!.!.. Yeah I wouldn't let a bi-metal run through my AR.

I think we're arguing different things here. I'm comparing similarly priced guns. A $600 AR isn't much, but a $600 bolt action is a bit nicer. I'd expect 4MOA from a cheap AR and 2 MOA from a $600 bolt gun.
My buddy's $1,200 AR10 drives tacks.

But you and I are going to agree more than not. And the AR is undoubtedly the fastest growing weapon in hunting. It's a perfect pig gun. With no patent protection, nothing is more versatile and customizable.

I like em.
