See, I think of Lone Eagle as one of those "pretty" looking places that cost a lot to build but serving mediocre beer. They definitely make too many different kinds, practically every imaginable style. I only been there twice but with changing beers between those 2 visits there was over 20 different brews. I do not believe that a new start up can be good at that many beers. Try getting 2 or 3 or 4 down pat before experimenting
Now THAT I do NOT understand. If you are a new Brewery, why the bloody hell do you have 20 different beers? Perfect 4 or 5 beers, then add on from there. Better to have 5 great beers, than 20 pisswater beers.

agree. That's another reason to like Conclave. He concentrates on variations of IPA, all good to great IMO, while also serving 1 or 2 different stouts. He had an admitted experiment, an English style ale IIRC, one time I was there. It was okay for a taste before heading for the excellent IPA's. The ale was made in a small quantity and sold out but I predict he will either abandon it or improve upon it in the future

yep, I always wonder who is trying these beers? Who is telling them it's good? And don't they drink good beer to compare it to? And yeah do a few really good ones before expanding to 20 styles.

I actually agree but I do like their West Coast IPA. I could hit Conclave up instead though.

Although might not be considered a craft beer anymore being a bit further south here I am a fan of Dogfish beers so for the holiday I will look grab some DF 90 minute IPA which has a little extra kick to it

Nothing wrong with Dogfish Head at all. 120 Minute is slated to be on shelves within a week or so and World Wide Stout was just revived. DH and Avery are the two breweries that booze the **** out of their beers but somehow they still taste like actual beer and not liquor.

Kane IPA is awesome out of ocean nj. Drop by there with your growlers and fill them up. It is on tap in many bars around the area.

RU Wrestling fan, and a craft beer aficionado as well? How have I not met you in person yet?

Prairie and Perennial are incredible...I'm hoping to score Pirate Bomb during Philly Beer Week in June. We also got a large shipment of Wicked Weed recently if you are interested in sour Ales...their IPAs and Stouts are excellent as well.

Singlecut is in NJ now as well...look for Heavy Boots of Lead.

WW Pernicious is my go to IPA these days. And their sour program is awesome. Just had some red angel and dark angel last week. By far my favorite local brewery

Which is why I higly recommend NCBC Raid the Eisbock. Its way cheaper, already aged and better tasting.

Totally agree. I have known Michael Kane since a year before he opened the brewery. Great guy and great brewer.

But he never adopted my suggestion to start a beer club that paid an annual fee and had first access to his new beer releases.

I am visiting CNJ in mid June and will buy some of his bottled beers and bring them back to my beer bros in SW FL. But I will wait in line with the rest of the patrons that day. That's the way he wants to run his business.

I just had El Paraiso the other day in bottle. Very dominant coffee flavor, could benefit from aging but WW kills it for the most part. Hoping to get their BA French Toast Imperial Stout soon.

Hoping PA starts to get Westbrook at some point. They are in New York and collab with Evil Twin frequently. Also wouldn't mind seeing Pipeworks or Revolution from Chicago make it out to Philly...we did just start getting Half Acre's full lineup from what I understand.

For the most part, I only get the Westbrook standard stuff here. Occasionally the bottle shops will get the one offs. SC craft beer laws are antiquated and really restrict distribution at this point.

If you are in NY, look for Burial. They just started distributing there. Might be limited to the city right now.

The collabration beers are available in PA as Evil Twin is registerd in PA. But like most extremely limited. Should have some tomorrow.

I know Georgia is in the midst of changing some of their beer laws. If so bet Creature Comforts will start showing up at some point besides via beer trading.

What are some good beers like Blue Point Toasted Lager? I think I like lagers and brown ales that have a nutty or caramel hint to them.

Are you local or are you outside the NYC/Philly/NJ area? That might help me figure out a good lager for you.

One I'd recommend if you are local is Mother Leeds by Double Nickel in Pennsauken...it's their Brown Ale. They have a Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrel Aged variant called Mother's Barrel and I believe now even is on Nitro Pour as well.

Blue Point Lager is ok. A dog in sales but not terrible. For the price there is many better. Marzen style Oktoberfest beers are awesome lagers. Helles styles are awesome as a summer beer. NCBC's Churchville Lager has won a Gold and Bronze medal in 3 years at the Great American Beer Fest. Repeating there confirms those beers that arent one hit wonders. Largers also are the parent name of many sub styles such as Pilsner, Helles, Marzen.... so if you are looking for a malty beer make sure you do some research before you buy.

Gotcha, thanks for the suggestions

I'm local
If your near Bucks County I can get you some 16oz cans of Creekfest. A flavorful malty Oktoberfest style. If you like the crisp somewhat bitter Pilsner style many are available like Veltins and Krombacker. Or local beer likes Ashton PAs, 2SP Delco Lager. Crushable

Another brewery in South Jersey...well 2 breweries actually that I think are likely to end up in distro very soon. The first is Tonewood Brewery in Oaklyn...they just started canning their beers and their Fuego IPA is very solid stuff. The second is Kelly Green Brewery in Pitman. They appear to be focused on saisons and sour ales and come out with bottle releases about once every 2 weeks or so. I could see both signing on with Kramer or Hunterdon in NJ and someone like Gretz or Muller in PA if they both keep it up.

I'm up by Hoboken and it looks like at least one of the liquor stores up here sells Neshaminy Creek, which by the way look delicious by the pictures.

Hang in there on Double Nickel. Heard they plan to be throughout NJ by the fall. Right now the furthest north they are appears to be around Woodbridge or so.

Another brewery that specializes in lagers is Jacks Abbey. Try the House Lager another crushable brew.

Interesting beer knowledge in this thread. I'm a beer novice. Would like to try something different. Seems like some of the beers above are hard to find. Since i live in Middletown, if I go into either Circus Wines or Buy Rite on 35 in Holmdel, what are 3 solid beers i can get? Something like an IPA, a lager, and anything else. Think of it as a craft starter pack.

My "gateway" craft beer recommendations...Victory Golden Monkey, which is a Belgian tripel, Allagash White, a Witbier, and Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. I refer to beers like wheat beers as "gateway beers"; beers that a person drinks in his transition from macro to craft.

I've seen Neshaminy Creek as far north as Saratoga. It was a nice surprise.
