One little small polyp and that was it.

Didn’t even realize I went out as the anesthesiologist must have given me the good stuff… *had them all laughing before the procedure.

Nurse went thru the checklist:

- What’s your birth date?
- You’re here today for a colonoscopy, correct?

* “Colonoscopy?! I’m here to get my knee done!”

Hilarity ensues and I woke up about 20 minutes later.

Prep was fine, procedure was fine, recovery was fine.

Get it done, folks! Nothing to be afraid of, nothing. This coming from a guy who is not a fan of needles (which the anesthesiologist picked up on and commented- lol).

Next scope in 3 years.

There was definitely more laughing with patients at the endo center than anywhere else I've ever worked.

Mix it with iced tea or lemonade. Actually mixing it with different flavors makes it a tad easier to drink it all

Make sure it's cold.
I used Gatorade, the original.

Went down pretty easy. And yes on the cold part.

Is the drink worse than the glucose drink women take when pregnant? @MrsScrew I am not keeping up here, sorry....with this prep you have to drink clear beverages? Only water?

Worse because it's viscous & you have to drink SO much of it (up to 64 oz depending on which one you get)
Day before a colonoscopy is always only clear liquids: tea, juice, ice pops, broth, gatorade, jello. Nothing red or purple because it can look like blood in the colon.

He’s probably eating or sleeping

Hey, hey... this isn't about me. It's about doing my part for humanity. It's about learning valuable lessons and participating in a diagnostic exercise that could help provide early identification of a potentially serious condition and allow for a better outcome.

The liquid prep is genuinely the nastiest thing I've ever experienced. Also - good note - the vodka is okay in principle but when you get to the... later stages of your prep, you should probably avoid it. Anything that goes in very quickly comes out the other end. Relatively unaltered. This interacts badly with the candles courteously lit in the bathroom.

I'm going with the pills instead. I think.
I was told to take the 4 pills of Dulcolax first than the whole thing of Miralax mixed in with the liquids.

Wasn't great but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

I just heard a story of someone recently in their late 30s catching it too late and passing away a year later. Sad situation with a couple of young kids at home. .
Lots of good info here . Get screened. Thanks for sharing.
Sadly, it can occur young. Lost a relative where they found it at 28. He only survived a few years and was gone in early thirties.
