OT: Cobra Kai on Netflix

[11thEagleFan]

Somehow I missed that this was a thing until someone mentioned it on here. The wife and I have been binge watching it since last night. Highly entertaining sequel series to Karate Kid. Cobra Kai never dies!

I do like all the subtle references back to the the original...."get a body bag" is the best .... it's amazing they got so many of the originals to come back....

The guy who said, “Get him a body bag” died last year.

It was also ironic that his character was terminally ill in cobra Kai.

My wife and I are also watching this series. We are really enjoying this and on the 2nd season about 3/4 of the way thru. It’s really good folks.

I've heard good things about that series. I've only watched Karate Kid once and never watched any of the others. But I did enjoy the original. Would I need to watch all of the movies to enjoy the series?

Is it sponsored by Coors? It seems like just about any scene with Johnny there's a Coors beer prominently shown.

If you have a decent memory of the first one, you’re good. They even regularly use footage from the first movie. They don’t ignore the second and third movies, but most of the references and characters are from the original one.

You do not have to necessarily have seen all the Karate Kid movies. It’s true many of the characters from the original movie are reprising their rolls. Additionally, there are several new young characters that play their specific rolls very well. The 2nd season is better than the first season and I believe the 3rd season is really going to shine and could be the best yet. The storytelling is superb as it explains more about Johnny and during his younger years. Enjoy.

I started yesterday, but I don’t understand why it wasn’t more of a big deal when the first season came out

Wife and I started it last night as well.

Because it was initially on YouTubeTV, not Netflix, so not many people saw it.

Johnny Lawrence as an adult is one of the greatest tv characters ever.

Just finished season 2 last night. Just get ready is all I can say. Wife and I couldn’t stop watching it. I’m an 80s kid so it was great the way they tied in the original. Also after watching it , the songs Cruel Summer and Inspiration will be stuck in your head for days.

You speak the Truth! He is really good; really carries this series.. no disrespect to Daniel of course.

They did a good job with it...inserting the humor...

I've been binge watching all holiday weekend... Great show! Johnny rocking the Zebra t-shirt S2E2 is awesome!

I believe it was on the premium Youtube Red option. I had youtube TV and couldn't watch it when it came out and too cheap to pay for it.

I love that they goof on the original cheesiness of the first movie. The scene when Maccio claps and rubs his hands was pretty funny.

The character is great. The acting is ****. Makes sense that he hasn't done anything since Karate Kid.

Have been binging this show the past week, and wow...it’s outstanding.

If you’re not watching it, shame on you.

Johnny Lawrence is an awesome character.

The bad acting is kind of what’s making it great. Have no clue how it’s working like that, but it is.

Needs more Johnny Lawerence and much less of the kid actors. The final fight scene of season two was turrible.
