Proper Twelve is some inexpensive very smooth Irish Whiskey. At Sams it is like 22-25 bucks a bottle. I like it a lot. I tend to buy more inexpensive stuff because I enjoy a lot of Whiskeys. Couple bottles a month.

Blanton's at retail is typically about $60-65. I really like it and have even bought the last two letters I need for the series at $110 each on secondary. That being said, there is a ton of stuff out there I like just as much if not more. Old Forester 1910 and 1920- both great at around $50. Woodford double oak at $45, Wild Turkey Rare Breed (rye and bourbon) both about $55. Woodinville Port cask finished $45, Knob Creek 12 year at $70 ish. All very available and very tasty.
a friend served me EH Taylor? a few nights ago. 100 proof. WAY too easy to drink. None of us can remember the exact name of it and the bottle was empty so it got pitched..... I'm not sure which variety it was but I see that Buffalo Trace makes it. MMMMMMMM GOOD!

Probably small batch- 100 proof and very good! Hard to find, but excellent. EH also makes Single barrel, Rye, Barrel proof, and there is a bunch of stuff out there that is ungodly expensive on the secondary. Have had single barrel and thought it was good, but not that much better than small batch. Have a Rye, but I haven't opened it.

I recently scored a bottle of Blantons for $65. Very nice (but I also like Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare). Also picked up a bottle of Basil Hayden Dark Rye which I also enjoyed. Would love to find some EH Taylor one of these days.

Try to get some Sazerac Rye if you can. Great Rye....

Liquor stores around here have every bourbon you can imagine. There are tons of small local distilleries that offer selections too. Never thought about other parts of the country not getting the selection we do until this thread.

My sister in law lives in Kentucky, she's out in the country near Henderson. We try to drive down a few times a year, and I always try to hit a liquor store while we're down there for just the reason you mentioned.

I think so? They're actually closer to Robards IIRC, but Henderson is usually what we use as a reference point.

Gotcha. Right across the river from Evansville, Indiana. Im not far from Henderson. I live in the western part of the state.

Cool. Ya, we drive through Evansville on our way down. Her husband actually works at the horse track there part of the year as a vet, he rotates between there and a track in Arkansas. She's a vet too but works at a clinic in the area.

Evansville is a nice place, but once you get as far as Henderson you might as well head down to Nashville. Great place to go.

It could have been single barrel. He's not afraid to spend money on booze for his friends but I suspect you're right and it was the small batch. My son told me yesterday that he used to buy it at Costco in Omaha for about $50 but I suspect he might be misremembering.

EHT SiB, Stagg Jr, and ETL are all available at retail in Arizona tomorrow, in limited quantities. Which one are you buying and in what order?

Plantation’s Pineapple Rum is fantastic straight with some frozen raspberries and blackberries. Rum in general sucks, but this rum in particular is smokey and slightly sweet (no added sugar) due to them using pineapple cores for its sweetness, so there’s no actual pineapple flavor.

I’m a scotch/beer/wine drinker, and if you give someone a glass of the plantation rum they won’t believe it’s actually rum. Very good and runs anywhere between $28 - $36 a bottle depending on where you buy it
I used to think the same thing about rum until I tried the good stuff from Barbados. Really enjoy 1703 and the XO cask strength from Mount Gay. No sugar or color added if made in Barbados. Drink it neat.

thanks for the rum tip. My Blanton's source drinks rum too and I bet he would like one that is less sweet.

If you’re that close exit 25A or 25B off I-64. Abe Lincoln visited, great food & reasonably priced. I’d wager your home folks know about the Log.

I had finished off my Glenfiddich 12 Year last night. Was at Total Wine after lunch to pick up a new bottle. Ran across this on my way to the check out. Way beyond my budget. @HBK4life, do you have this in your collection? If so, I may be over for a taste later this afternoon.

To put that in perspective, that's $2,375 a shot! Eek

my favorites that you can buy alot of places are Old Forester 1920, Knob Creek 12 year, Elijah Craig Barrel proof, Old Elk Wheated. these can be found and please try these, hunting for Allocated Bourbons are a crazy game, you will spend tons of money driving around and not getting anything so these are the ones for drinkers!

That is a pretty good pour. Maybe not as good as some of the other bottles in that range, but it is tasty

I was in Louisville a month ago when the women's basketball team competed in the opening NCAA round.

I had the opportunity to go to a distillery tour/tasting at Rabbit Hole, which isn't far from the Yum! Center in downtown Louisville.

I got to sample Cavehill, Heigold and Dareringer, the latter of these 3 bourbons which I enjoyed the most.

Rabbit Hole is good stuff! I bought a bottle to have as a celebratory drink when our daughter was born. Got to pop it open after Feb 28th. 😁

There was this cigar bar here in Omaha and they had some crazy expensive ****. One of the bottles, I can't remember the name now, would go for 200 dollars per shot...the girls that worked there were all stunners and would of course get hammered while working and then do shots of that stuff.

Ahhhhh, good times!

But, a 40,000 dollar bottle, now that is bad ***!

Picked a new fifth of this on Saturday. Definitely in my Top 5.

A few years back, I was treated to a pour of the 21 port wood by a friend. It was spectacular. Pricy but worth it for a special occasion. I was also gifted a bottle of McAllen 18 around then. Also very good, but I’d take the balavinie.

Just made the mistake of buying a bourbon because it had a cool bottle. "Dead guy walking" is the nastiest **** I've ever tried. Took a few sips and the taste and smell about made me puke. Dumped the whole bottle. Rancid. But cool bottle. Lol

My wife tried to throw out the last Blanton's bottle I emptied with the top still on it. I don't know if they're worth anything but the buddy that sets me up with Blantons collects the tops. It's about time to re-order. I'm down to 1 and 2/3rds bottles. I'm not sure what he does for the woman who runs our HyVee liquor store, but he's the first call when she gets some in.

It's impossible to find in Lincoln. Every place I shop says they get limited bottles in and they are gone in a day. I ordered mine online.
