OT-Bourbon drinkers?

I’m not a rye fan but I don’t think I’ve had a good one. That stuff they bottle over in Iowa is awful.
It’s not for everyone. Nothing is. I used to not like rye…then I tasted some better ryes. Michter’s 10 rye. JD single barrel barrel proof. Willett. Midwinter nights dram. Emerald giant cask strength. All pretty different. Some even pretty bourbon-esque. If you need a transition, you can look into redwood empire lost monarch. It’s a bou-rye…a blend of their bourbon and rye. There are also a lot of high rye bourbons that you can sample and build your taste for it
I’m out here in LaLa land this week. Local wine and more in Brea (where I’m staying) has Knob Creek 12 for $65. Any of you boys had KC 12? Worth the 65 price point?
You're staying in Brea of all places? At the Embassy Suites? KC12 is def worth the $65 IMO but Brea Total Wine had Eagle Rare for $41 as of yesterday evening and I would get that over KC12.

You mean Woodford Double Oaked? I have a bottle of that open right now. It is a nice change up from other bourbons. Try Old Forester 1920 if you can find that locally.
Yeah woodford is solid. It’s what Delta serves onboard. I’ll probably order a couple on my long flight out to the west coast tonight
A buddy of mine who HATES to fly (big guy) flew Delta to the Bahamas 2 weeks ago and he raved about how good the flight was. Comfy seats and free movies on the seat backs.
I second this. I usually fly United just because one of the credit cards I have, but have flow Delta twice in the last couple of months and it has been great. Might actually switch to them because of what you just said. I hate their woke **** going on, but that seems to be all airlines right now.
Delta just got rid of saying ladies and gentlemen at the gate and their head DEI agent is nuts. It's par for the course with these morons.

Grabbed a Buffalo Trace store pick from Albertson's about a month ago that is way better than regular Buffalo Trace. Very comparable to Eagle Rare. Should have grabbed 6 but wasn't sure how different it would be from regular Buffalo Trace.
Also grabbed the following from Total Wine in Brea:
EH Taylor Small Batch (superior to Eagle Rare, Blanton's, and Buffalo)
Bowman Single Barrel
Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Strength
Hancock's Reserve (underproofed Blanton's they say, haven't tried it yet)
Wild Turkey 70th Anniversary
Local grocery also had Buffalo Trace Kosher Rye Recipe, Straight Rye, and Wheated which I grabbed because I've never seen those before.
Had to pass on Eagle Rare and Blanton's a few times as I'm already stocked there.
EH Taylor is personal fave (just ahead of Eagle Rare). Bowman’s is highly underrated IMO…and not expensive. Just picked up my first Stagg Jr. (have not tried yet).

Saw that myself but had to pass as I already unloaded on a case of EH Taylor Barrel Proof, Old Forester Single Barrel Rye, and Peerless Double Oak. Got plenty of celebration material now the Huskers just have to win.
Local liquor store has a monthly raffle where the winners are able to by one of their allocated/presumably hard to find bourbons. I’ve won two months in a rows.

Which recipe if the four roses? I just got hooked up with a OESV bottle. Haven’t cracked it yet. I want to try to collect all 10 recipes but will be difficult unless I make a trip to the distillery.
I haven’t found the Yellowstone 101 but I have a barrel proof store pick from them that is a great bottle. How is the 101?
Traveller whiskey is very good. Reminds me of a mix of Wild Turkey and Buffalo Trace. Anyone else tried it ?
OESO is supposed to be difficult to find. Haven’t tried it but it generally reviews well. I’m a big four roses fan in general. I got to try their 2024 special release recently…huge cherry bomb. Very good. Enjoy!
