I saw that this thread had taken off and checked back in expecting to see that Billy Preston had become the latest Jayhawk to publicly embarrass their program.

Instead, it's Kansas fans arguing that they're better than UCONN and Louisville.

"Hey, we're top five or six!" is the new "But we won the Big 12!"

It's okay. The third tier has to have teams in it too.

Nobody said UCLA is the greatest program of all-time. Titles play a huge part though. Along with wins. Along with who you play(in case of Kansas the worst major conference in college basketball). You'd think that was something that didnt need to be said.

Quick name all the conferences with more than 1 program that's won the National Title since 1983. Here's a hint. The Big 12 isn't one of them.

For a fan base that doesn't even have the most titles, you guys sure do put a lot of stock in them.

Because they are a part of our MOST WINS in history. Of course you don't put much stock in them. You choke before you get a chance to win one most times. At least you made the tourney 29 times in a row and won your conference 14 straight times. They've resulted in so many National Titles.

Typical Jailhawk fan trying to use winning the big twelve as a excuse for their early NCAA flame outs and using their bread banners to even be remotely in the conversation for national championships .

Man y'all are emotional. Like I said, I get it. I would be too if KU ever had the kind of year you are all having right now.
Hey Little Brother, do you realize Kentucky BEAT Kansas the first 16 out of 17 games? From 1950 to 1983, Kansas only won 1 game in the series. And before you start with the "that's not my era" business, you can't boast of Kansas' proud tradition of Dr. James Naismith if you won't accept your defeats. Can't have it both ways. Enjoy this factoid Little Brother.

Remember when we beat you the last time we played each other at Rupp?
Remember when we beat you the last time we played each other at Allen Fieldhouse?
Remember when we beat you the last time we played each other on a neutral court?

All you guys have is ancient history. Sad!

Ancient history?

Kansas Tournament success lately has been the following:

05- 1st round loss to Bucknell who was a 15 seed
06- 1st round loss to mighty Bradley who was a 15 Seed
09- 2nd round as 3 seed to 11 seed Dayton
10- 2nd round as 1 seed to 8 seed Northern Iowa
11- As 1 seed lost to 11 seed VCU
12--Lost Championship to UK lol...
13- Lost as 1 seed to 4 seed Michagan in Swet 16
14- Lost as 2 seed too 10 seed Stanford
15- Lost as 2 seed to 7 seeded Wichita State
16- Lost as 1 Seed to 2 seeded Villanova
17- Lost as 1 seed to 3 seeded Oregon

Only 1 year since 05 Has Kansas lived up to their seeding and they lost the title to us. Kansas is the biggest underachiever in tournament play there has been since Bill Self took over their program.
bucknell was a 14 and bradley was a 13. KU hasn’t lost to a 15

Still not even remotely as embarrassing as losing to Bob Morris on your home floor in the first round of the NIT with a roster full of burger boys. That's worse than a 1 seed losing to a 16.
Little Brother @VanillaRilla did you say something about being embarrassed?

Well woo-pity doo lol... That makes it alot better then I guess. There still isn't a team that has fallen out of the tournament to extremely low seeded teams more than Kansas and Bill Self in the last 12-14 years.

KU is a blue blood.. I didn’t read the entire thread but they are above Duke imo due to their all time wins.
1. Kentucky
2. UCLA
3. UNCheat
4. KU
5. IU
6. Duke

You can’t suck as much as IU and be ranked any higher but dukes history is weak compared to IU. I’m hesitant to put UCLA top 3 bc they’ve done like 1 thing in 50 years.

Wooooooooo. Kansas team beats 14-14 probation squad with eight scholarship players and one guy taller than 6-foot-4. Impressive.

How about KU had a No. 1 or No. 2 seed every year since 2009 and have been to the Final four once (lost in title game to Kentucky) and missed the Sweet 16 in 2010, 2014 and 2015 as a top 2 seed.

A team full of them? We had 4. One of which, who was our best player got hurt towards the end of the year. If that doesn't happen, we make the tournament. I'll gladly take that loss after winning the title the year previously to some big 12 team. Basketball may have been invented in Kansas, but it was perfected in Kentucky

Still not even remotely as embarrassing as losing to Bob Morris on your home floor in the first round of the NIT with a roster full of burger boys. That's worse than a 1 seed losing to a 16.

Oh it sucked, but if I recall we played there.

But if you think that's worse than a 1 getting beat by a 16 in the NCAA than you're just not very smart.

Remember when we beat you the last time we played each other at Rupp?
Remember when we beat you the last time we played each other at Allen Fieldhouse?
Remember when we beat you the last time we played each other on a neutral court?

All you guys have is ancient history. Sad!
Hold on now Little Brother @VanillaRilla didn't you just say something about ancient history? Make up your mind Lil' Bro. You can't have it both ways. Either you accept ALL of your history or NONE of your history. Don't cherry pick Lil' Bro.

KU is top 3 in every single category you just mentioned besides Natty Titles. We have 3. Hardly anything to be ashamed about.[/QUOT

Don't be so smug, louisville say they have 3 Natty titles. The NCAA says they don't.

How about Kentucky losing in the first round of the NIT in 2013?

Considering we won the title the year before - our eighth - we don't care. We won our third title in 1951. Yours came in 2008.

You're punching up. Quit while you're badly behind. Just relish your little conference titles and helms trophies. You're on our board, if you don't like what you're reading, go back to The Shiver or wherever the hell it is you people come from.

The more conference titles Kansas wins, the more embarrassing it is for that pathetic conference.

There is never a team from that very weak conference that steps up and does anything. Sad!

I don't but that's the only game you guys want to play.

I'd love to talk about who has had the better basketball program over the past 5, 10, or 15 years. Hands down, it's Kansas.

I can see your point of keeping it in that time frame.

You probably weren't born in 1988 or 1952 the other title years for KU....2008 was ten years ago. Congrats sorry I was so late

Explain how it's hands down Kansas?

These down years must be hell for you guys. I can't even begin to imagine what it would feel like being 5th in the conference standings going into March.

Thoughts and prayers.
I can’t figure out how the team that had the coach to invent basketball only has 3 National championships?

Missouri, who used to be Kansas primary in conference rival, hardly qualifies as a middle of the pack SEC team!

Pitiful.

I’d love to talk about how we’ve got the same amount of championships, more final 4’s and only 1 less elite 8 appearance under our current coaches and your coach is in year 15 and ours year 9. :(

I'm enjoying what I'm reading and I appreciate you all letting me hang around.

Now, tell me.. how old were you in 1951? That must have been very exciting winning that third title then.

How old were you in 2008? I was 28.
How old were you in 1988? I was 8.
How old were you in 1952?

However, I saw the Cats win a title when I was 16, 18 and 32. How old were you when you saw Kansas when three titles?

We are about the same age. I was 7 when we won in '88 and 27 in '08.

I don't go around bragging about our 1952 title because I was almost 30 years from being born.

I really only care about from when I became a fan at age 5 in 1986.

Im still waiting for the list of teams who have won a National title from the Big 12 since 1983 that wasn't named Kansas(the date that a KU fan picked earlier). Hell, Ill settle for runner-ups.
