Moved in late 2016 and due to wife logic, our old mattress just wasn't good enough for a new house, so I Googled around and tried to sell her on getting a Tuft and Needle for $700 (I think they have gone up since then). She says she just cant see us buying a mattress without testing it. They will take it back for free if you don't like it I retort. No I need to try it she says. Laying on it for 2 minutes is enough to know you will like it, I ask. I get the look which means the argument is over even though my logic is superior.
So we trudge on down the the local Mattress Firm and she lays on a few for approximately 15 seconds each and finds one she wants that is 1.5k. I tell her there is no way in hell we are spending 1.5k on a mattress so we leave with her full intent to wear me down to buy the 1.5k mattress later. After a few days of her wearing on me I tell her I will buy it later at work. I go find one at sears that has the exact same coil count, brand (beautyrest), and other stats for $900 and buy it and have it delivered and she is none the wiser and approves of the purchase.
Not long after that purchase it is time to move our child from the crib into a regular bed so she tells me to go get whatever bed I want for her, so I buy a Tuft and needle, she lays on it and says yea I wouldn't have liked this one. About a month later we take a family trip and stay in an Air bnb. After the first night she tells me, OMG that is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on, I pull the sheet off to see what brand it is, and it's a Tuft and Needle.
