The thread about Hot Coffee made me remember how many great town names I’ve come across in my life. Mississippi has a lot by itself.

What are some of the best town names you’ve been to? Adding “been to” to make it a bit more challenging.

I think Hot Coffee is definitely up there for names for me. I also remember Cairo near Starkville. That one always made me chuckle.

If you leave Shorterville, AL, you can cross the Chattahoochee, grab a beer in Fort Gaines, GA, and be back home in Screamer, AL. All within 20 minutes.

True story.

Eutaw, AL has always cracked me up. It is spelled like how a Bama fan would pronounce Utah.

Marked Tree, AR

Been to Crumrod and Greasy Corner. There is also a park near Conway, AR called Toad Suck Park. WTH?

Then there’s Ooltewah, TN, (which I still haven’t figured out how to pronounce; is it “ew-ta-wah” or “ewl-ta-wah”?). There’s Soddy-Daisy right around the corner from there. North of there is Crab Orchard and Wartburg. Both sound very inviting. Big Sandy has a bad rap and Three Way leaves a lot of husbands very disappointed upon departure.

Slapout, AL. Has been absorbed by Holtville, but the town got its name from the general store owner who, when a customer asked if he had any more of a certain item would reply, "Nope, we're slap out of that".

Just make sure you pronounce it "KAY-row"...

Otherwise, they'll know you're not a local. Also nearby is Hurricane, but that one should be pronounced "HAIR-ruh-kin".

Makes as much sense as "PUNNY-tock".

My very first thought when I first saw this thread. Had no idea anyone else on this board knew of Sugar Tit, SC

Frog Level, Alabama

Honorable mention to Gu-Win, Alabama
The fact that Gu-Win and Guin are 3 miles apart creates a shocking ammount of confusion for our district. Imagine having to describe in detail which of the two ******** towns to service every freaking time we go up there. Dumbasses.

Gene pool is shallow in them thar parts

Grew up in Arkansas, moved all over the state. Most of my younger years were near Flippen in Yellville.

Also:
Hope, AR (spent some time there, sad little town now)
Blue Mailbox, AR (not too far away)
Evening Shade, AR
Morning Star, AR
Evening Star, AR
For your Dukes fans, there's no Hazzard County in AR, but there is a Izard County

Pretty sure there's an Intercourse, Alabama too.

There's a Gurley, Alabama near here, and a Butter & Egg Road.
