A chain, seriously? Stop posting.Friendship House is great. Catfish has its limits of flavors you can throw at it. You’re really going for who does better hush puppies and coleslaw. Friendship house does a great whole catfish with good sides. Ezells in Pennington, Alabama is(or at least used to be) the best in the twin states.
Truer words have never been spoken. Order that same craw fish sauce on a med rare rib eye and you will think you are in heaven. Mrs Bite usually orders the catfish with craw fish sauce and I order the rib eye with craw fish sauce and when it arrives we immediately cut both in half and make our own surf and turf. Damn, I'm hungry.
I hate to deal in hypotheticals. But the only/best/alltime catfish was made at Top O’ The River in Vicksburg MS. I wish some of you could experience it. It was fantastic.
It’s all in the breading. Just yellow corn meal does nothing for me. Grew up in Delta, so if it didn’t have Bearden’s breading on it; it ain’t no good.

Catfish Hotel Wickpick....can't be beat. Maybe equaled but not beat.
I've eaten there a thousand times any I've never had a bad meal. They have a pretty good beer selection, mostly can and bottles and a limited draft selection. If you want wine or liquor it's BYOB and they provide uncorking and setups. There is a liquor store right down the street at the RR tracks. You can visit the world renowned Brandon Walker smoking lounge next door to the liquor store as well and have something to tell your grandkids about.Well, looks like I’ll be headed to try out Anthony’s soon. Dammit.
I did, and it was. Also a great location on the river near the bridge.....very nice at sunset.
Secondary votes for Wade's in Eupora. I've heard Chunky Shoals gets good reviews but I've never been there.
Check out Seafood Junction in Algoma (near Pontotoc). That should be about an hour from Starkville if you take 389 up through Houston.
Troy Smith owns Long's, and is a good friend of mine. He was recently elected to the MS Legislature. His brother and sister-in-law both teach at State and live in Starkville. Great food and great people.
+ one on Rayner'sCharlie's is f-i-n-e fine. Rayner's on 49N in Hattiesburg is also the truth.
