OT: Bengals vs Chiefs Game Thread

IDK. I thought it was a very soft call. Incidental contact and Mahomes flopped. But the CBS rules expert disagreed so what do I know.

I think it was the fact that he extended his arms with what appeared to be a push even if soft push. If he just collided with him because they were running full speed and just crashed i bet they might not have called it.
Also, seemed like a big holding call before mahomes started running which could have negated the entire thing anyway.

There were 3 huge calls in the early game that massively affected the game.
1. Smith clearly dropped the 4th down pass.
2. The punt clearly hit the wire overhead.
3. Purdy's fumble was recovered and would have been returned, perhaps for a TD, but was blown dead.
Those aren't even things like holding or PI. Those were just blatant misses.

Great angle here. To me it wasn’t as much of the push or a flop, their feet getting tangled did the most damage.

That's fantastic real world money, but considering the short career these guys have, I really hope Isiah gets good financial advice because an injury or two and that money can run out fast. Only the NBA pays their players well enough where it would be really tough to blow it all, while football is at the other end of the spectrum.

I never liked the uniforms, or Mauk taunting RU fans, or L'ville follow-up, or Kelly yelling and spitting at players, or players named "Munchie" - too many reasons compared to other teams. I even liked WV when they were always kicking butt

Being a 7th round pick, I don't think Pacheco makes that much money, relatively speaking. Yet he has such a big role on the team.

Jason definitely is your average guy. He bartends in Sea Isle City every summer for some fundraiser and you can tell he is really enjoying the moment and interacting with fans.

I think calling 1 and 2 "blatant misses" is pretty harsh.

The 4th down pass would have been very tough to call in real time, and needed several angles to finally find one that showed the ball hitting the ground and moving slightly.

The punt seems to have hit the wire, however there wasn't a good angle of it that I saw, and it would be pretty tough to fault the referees since they all have responsibilities on the field and aren't just all looking at the sky watching the ball while it's in flight. Logic dictates that it hit it, but don't see how they could have overturned it.

They did stop the game and reviewed it since the play was so odd, but couldn’t find anything indisputable on the video. Again, issue is that no cameras are tracking the ball closely when it’s 100 feet above the field.

To me, it was obvious from a “everyone on the Eagles bench was pointing at the sky and it didn’t look like he shanked the punt that badly”…but nothing to actually show the ball hitting the wire (though I despise those cameras, so maybe this can help put an end to them).

You couldn't see it hit the wire. Unfortunately, the best evidence was how drastically the spin on the ball changed, which isn't considered visual evidence.

The intelligence of DeVanta Smith played a key role in the 4th down no catch. He gave the Eagles the hurry up signal and they got to the line to take the next snap before several replays could be seen. Also Shanahan should have challenged it anyway, but his in game management continues to haunt him.

A bunch of people on twitter pointed out that they wondered why the couldn't just use the footage from the skycam here, if it shook during the punt then it was obviously hit.
