I can't wait for humans to blend so much that we are all some shade of tan. That seems to be the only way we'll get past our complicated history.

I agree w/this! Dude I really enjoy talking hoops with you. Like Mac I believe your "heart is in the right place." OFC
Okay, well thanks Hart... it just seemed to me like you were sort of jumping on me earlier when I was saying "Let's not start taking shots," and then agreeing with Pis when he was going after me a bit about thinking everyone I disagree with is wrong, and it just seemed out of nowhere, given that I don't think you and I have ever really had any problems or issues or disagreements that I can remember. It just felt rather out of the blue and caught me a bit off guard.
See, Pis, where does this come from?
No, if you disagree with me you aren't wrong. I disagree with Jimbo over on the main board a lot. I disagree with my father in law. I disagree with lots of people. We can disagree about Nixon, my pleasure! Disagreement doesn't mean someone is wrong.
What tons of historians believe? Tons of historians believe that Nixon was a disaster of a president for a wealth of things...the messy, protracted end to Vietnam, the influx of money influencing politics, and of course the complete collapse of the presidency itself among scandal and crime. And heaven forbid that someone with a degree in history and who teaches history contribute his two cents... am I not historian enough?
I don't get why you are suddenly getting all personal with this. I literally just defended you, in this very thread... how on earth does that then become you going after me?
Anyone else find it comical that the two guys driving this from the anti-protest side are childish enough to include “lol” in every reply?
(Sorry, I edited after you hit quote. I do that a lot)
Hey guys, why don't we all just end this discussion. It's been good, but there's really no more that can be added. We are all fortunate as well. It could be worse for all of us.
What if you were related to Guru Gary?
Whatever the mods want... I enjoy this sort of discussion, to be honest![]()
Certainly...it went a lot better than others of similar substance...though I'm not sure any minds were changed or even affected in any meaningful way.
Why should i stand for a flag, when during its inception i was considered property? The song it self talks about the slaughter of free slaves. How are Black people who protest disrespecting the military when they have ancestors who have fought and died in EVERY American war? Most have current members in their families, this argument is stupid. In reality if Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Hamilton, and Adams were alive today they would all be f*cking pissed off about what America is today. America was built by slaves for White men. Period. So called African-American, Black, Negro, and Colored were NEVER suppose to be apart of American culture like they are now. While i am on the subject How many groups of people on this earth have 4-5 names they have been called throughout history? Exactly. But that is off topic and another subject entirely.
I can't wait for humans to blend so much that we are all some shade of tan.
I found this, from 2008, right after Obama's election. Other stuff was about him, not by him. Did you have anything in particular in mind? Our own Shane Battier has written, and spoken, at length about this. If you haven't read what he's written, its definitely worth a read.
I can't wait for that either. I wouldn't wish my pastiness on anyone.![]()
Wah, wah, wah.The black statistics are insane (but it is also a fact that blacks mainly kill blacks and whites mainly kill whites....its about proximity and blacks are mainly in impoverished areas right on top of each other literally), but until you walk in those shoes, be born into those situations, live in those environments it is hard to fathom....my take is that the black fiber was set back because of the effects of slavery and the horrors of the civil rights era when so many blacks were lynched, hung, killed, terrorized....the black family dynamic was thwarted in a sense with so many good men senselessly killed, the pool dwindled in a sense.....the drive to take and get (crime and drug use) prevailed and many are in the situations that they are in because of this....its easy to say everyone has a fair shake, but in reality it isn't true...........the same as we as men would never know what it is like to be a woman and to have a life grow inside them and give birth....the same can be said in regards to being black in this country, if you ain't, you'd never know just how difficult simple things that you take for granted aren't so simple when your skin is a different color
I can't wait for humans to blend so much that we are all some shade of tan. That seems to be the only way we'll get past our complicated history.

Bull hockey! But go ahead and pat yourself on the back. Your facts are unsourced and usually wrong or are based on revisionist history or are presented out of context because you are not capable of debating honestly. By the way, having a Duke education may make you educated but it does not make you smart. That's particularly funny, because I probably post more actual facts and studies and stats than anyone else in any of these political discussions![]()
Revisionist history.
3rd stanza:
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth waveO’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
^could not save the hireling and SLAVE. not Germans. "..................................."
Imagine a world in which Pisgah and Swervin' were forced to just sit and eat dinner with each once a week. I wish we all got those opportunities more. It might help get us understand why we're all the way we are. Most disagreements are a matter of perspective. No one wants to feel afraid or cheated or hopeless. It's a start to understand why others feel these emotions.Unless we all look just alike we will find some way to be prejudice . It's the natural man in us. If you really look into it we are all minority's in some way. Yes some are more persecuted than others but all people in some ways are different than others may it be their religion, their education, their ethnic background, their political believes, the size of their body, bullies, those that were bullied, the way we speak, the different way we speak english, ( I'm from the south and have a drawl and have been made fun of because of it because to some I sound ignorant but to me folks from other parts of the country sound odd.) I don't think they are ignorant though. What does this have to do with Anthem demonstrations or will it make a difference and solve the problem? Of course not. Nothing has changed. Innocent people are still dying by bad cops. People who think they are safe in a church are still dying. Our troops are still dying and the main stream media is feeding the fire and it is out of control. I'm not saying this will work but what if we do what we do here when another poster is just too much to deal with we ignore them. It's going top be hard to ignore the main stream media. Even though I don't watch the news anymore I see all I want to see on social media. I'm telling you guys if we don't get our act together the world as we know it is going to have to change or we won't be here. Yeah I Dsouthed this one. Sorry. My last post on this thread other than likes that I agree with from some of you. OFC
You forgot to mention that good cops are still being murdered by bad people and that without the police we, black and white, would all be in grave danger. The number of murders of innocent people by the police is a fraction of a percent of all murders and while regrettable is not nearly as widespread a phenomenon as the media and Black Lives Matter would like us to believe.Unless we all look just alike we will find some way to be prejudice . Yes because I am the racist here so u use me as an example. If you stand up for the flag your racist. I feel the same about anyone who will disrespect my country and flag. I don't care if you're white black red yellow dont matter to me one bit. And if you respect my country we have no prob. If swervin wants to have a nice dinner I'll be more than happy but if he spewed his hate of my home I'd break his nose. And I don't mean that as a "threat" I mean that as that's how strongly I love my country. There's three things in this passionate about and that's Jesus, my family and America and this issue has struck a cord with me. I would give my life for those three things and those three things alone

I wasn't scared until he brought up Jesus. It's not YOUR country bud. And if you want to give your life....step right up. I aint backing down from what I believe in.Yes because I am the racist here so u use me as an example. If you stand up for the flag your racist. I found this and it very similar to my Youth. I found that people always tried to put me in whatever box they thought I would fit in based on my skin color. But it was hardly ever true. I was one of the only black kids in the AP courses, I was a division 1 athlete, and felt like I got along well socially. But I was always different...from just about everybody. What made the biggest difference in my life? How was I able to get by? Sports and money. My parents were divorced from the time I was very young. My mother was very poor for as long as I can remember, but my father was an airline captain and I had every opportunity that I needed to excel. On top of that, I was very good athlete and was able to get a scholarship to college. I have tiptoed back and forth between black and white, rich and poor, happy and sad my whole life. Those of you that are making negative assumptions on People based on skin color, white or black, are embarrassments. I have no problem saying that to any of you. I know I'm rambling a bit but I get super emotional about this stuffI found this, from 2008, right after Obama's election. Other stuff was about him, not by him. Did you have anything in particular in mind?
I've been on this board for years...i do post occasionally but I find my time is better spent elsewhere. This topic is just very personal to me. My father is black and Japanese, and my mother is white. My dad was in the military and more conservative and my mom is the liberal hero. I tend to fall somewhere in between them but issues of racism are not things that I will ever back down to. For those of you that are white, I can never explain to you what it feels like to have somebody hate you just for the color of your skin. And sometimes it is harder for mixed people. Not White enough for the white people and not black enough for the blacks. I just cannot fathom how we can judge people based on their skin color and have a certain population be okay with that.
Anyone else find it comical that the two guys driving this from the anti-protest side are childish enough to include “lol” in every reply?
Where did you grow up? I'm not going to pretend that it doesn't go the other way, it is just much less common considering most races congregate together. I was the opposite. The only black family in the neighborhood. An old lady drove her car up my driveway while my dad was doing the grass and ask him to go to the liquor store for her because she thought he was the yard boy. I would get accused of stealing s*** in the neighborhood all of the time.Growing up in an area that was 95% or more black, and me being mostly white, I don't need you to explain anything to me about hate - I've felt it myself, daily, and have the fighting experience and scars to prove it.
