Had only heard there was interest from the Giants. But I barely follow the NFL- just watch Bears and Chiefs for Monangai and Pacheco. Taking a job at Giants and Jets is a fate worse than death.
The Tennessee Titans were supposedly interested in Freeman, obliviously he wasn't looking for that job since he committed to another year at Notre Dame

I doubt he’d go with Jimmy Lake

I suck at connecting dots. WTF is that supposed to mean wrt to Golden--oh, I see now, Bowen is the GM at USC.

How about this dot, that will make Rutgers fans' heads explode?

Al Golden played at Penn State from 1988-91. Greg Schiano was a GA at Penn State in 1990, and DBs coach in 1991. @Richie O will laugh me off the boards for this one!

And there is this in Golden's bio on Wikipedia, without any attribution: " After back-to-back weeks in which the Bengals lost after allowing over 500 yards of offense and 4th quarter comebacks to the then-winless New York Jets and the Chicago Bears, the latter of which came after scoring 15 unanswered points to take the lead with about a minute to go in the game, many fans lamented Golden be stripped of his DC duties. However, head coach Zac Taylor defended Golden, calling him a "great football coach".

Pete Kwiatkowski probably would have a great chance to get the job, but my long-shot pick would be Mark Stoops
who just was dumped as Kentucky's HC and wants to stay in the coaching game to prove Ky made a mistake .
Riley might just hire Mark because of his connection to Mark's brother Bob at Oklahoma
Mark had extensive DC experience before he was hired to be Ky's HC, and as the Wildcat's HC for the last 13 years, before sent out to pasture, I'm sure he kept himself abreast of the way college D evolved since he ran just that side of the game.
For Rilely someone ne might click with because of connection to brother, for Mark a way for redemption and another shot to be considered HC material if he makes USC's D a force to be reckoned with.

That would be a good name too but I don’t know if he’d come back to be DC, at least not right away. Maybe in some time if he doesn’t get any bites at HC.

Mind you I don’t know how fond Bob Stoops would be of Riley for “abandoning” OU lol.

I think you meant to say Lincoln would not stoop to Stoops' level.

I knew that would make your heart go pitter patter.

How is Aranda doing these days?
TOs from the qb position is their weakness imo. Too many mistakes out of Daniels in recent years. If AK can help clean that up with whomever the replacement qb is, they can get back on track.

Aranda is on borrowed time imo. Good DC but eh as HC. He’s got another year to prove himself.

Maybe Rutgers can put Baylor out of Aranda misery and make Aranda an offer he can't refuse? ;)

I figured that reunion was probably coming.

>Andy Kotelnicki is back at Kansas, the program announced Friday. The former Jayhawks offensive coordinator will return as associate head coach, the program said. <

Nit fans might feel he failed at Happy Valley, but Kansas fans might look on him as the type of coach needed to move the program in an upward direction again

>Kotelnicki, of course, worked with Leipold continuously from 2013-23. Kotelnicki joined Leipold at Wisconsin-Whitewater in '13, and the two went 30-0 together in two seasons. That success took them to Buffalo, and then to Kansas. <

Maybe Lance sent Andy the old Olivia Newton John song- great line about second time around.

It’s funny all these hires are all from previous relationships. I guess GS isn’t alone in that department. I think if we have big $, you can lured away a big name coach. Otherwise, people gravitate towards familiarity.
