Utah's Kyle Whittingham stepping down from the program after it plays in the Las Vegas Bowl
In my opinion this coach was a real good one and the Utes will find it hard to replace him.
But hard doesn't mean impossible
>The Athletic notes that Whittingham is not considering this a retirement and is open to other coaching opportunities.<

Looks, to me, like Michigan might be why he's leaving Utah without retiring or forced out.
Jason Erk might be a good replacement
Morgan Scalley has been the HCIW there and is the one who will take over.

Wasn't there some trouble with a remark he made and the HCIW was reminded
But that was 5 years ago and you're more than likely right he's getting the job
A Utah lifer that played there and spent his whole coaching career with the Utes

Worked together at Duke
>Elko has some notable familiarity with Sparber. The two worked together for two seasons while Elko was the head coach at Duke. Elko promoted Sparber, who started off as a defensive graduate assistant for the Blue Devils, to linebackers analyst in 2023.<

I’m surprised I didn’t think Texas’ defense was all that bad. I think PK will get some looks. I guess Sarkisian can’t fire himself lol. The offense and the run game were bigger issues than the defense.

Maybe Greg is playing 3 dimensional chess. He swoops in and takes UT’s D coordinator and OL coach in a package deal!

Football playing alumni were pushing for him to be hired as head coach.
I think someone here mentioned that, maybe it was you. I don’t know if he would’ve been the best choice. USC’s defense showed some improvement with him but also still some of their old habits, especially away from home.

However, he may be better working alongside an offense like Campbell’s vs Riley’s.

It was. Spoke with a former PSU player early in the search.

If Lynn decides to go to PSU, I wonder if Kwiatkowski could end up at USC. USC's AD was at UW the same time PK was too. If PSU doesn't get Lynn, I wonder if they might look at PK as well. Kind of forgot that Heacock went along with Campbell to PSU. He was a pretty good DC at ISU as well, wonder what his role will be then if PSU is looking at Lynn.

Some rumors about Whittingham to Michigan as a sort of stop gap if they can't land someone like DeBoer or Dillingham. He "retired" from Utah but from his comments I don't get the impression that he really wanted to "retire" but maybe Utah was looking to push Scalley up before he left. Maybe UW or ASU, if FIsch or Dillingham were to leave.

If this article is on the money, scratch AKelly and Gruden off the Wolveriens candidate list.

The flaws Brian Kelly is accused of in this article makes him a not so nice person and Michigan only wants "nice" coaches

Gruden's fault is what he resigned from his Commander HC position and blamed the NFL commissioner for being behind an effort to drive him out of the NFL. Michigan's intercom President doesn't go for people like Jon if what he claims is true and if Jon is really not his type because of what happened during Gruden's days as a Commander

>Here’s the quote I am talking about:

“As we conduct our search for our next head football coach, we intend to hire an individual who can, and will, instill that spirit, and who will represent the highest values that our university holds dear. We will hire an individual who is of the highest moral character, and who will serve as a role model and respected leader for the entire football program, and who will — with dignity and integrity — be a fierce competitor.”<
