Just heard Minter has a 1 year show cause, not for Stallions but for texting a recruit when he shouldn’t have and that doesn’t expire until April 2026. Also he might get a NFL HC spot soon.I’d guess Minter might be a candidate too, if he’s willing to come back to college for a HC position at Michigan. Wonder if they could pry Dillingham out of ASU. Brian Kelly would love the job but not sure Michigan would look at him.

DeBoer is the popular name that comes up but the playoff run is the obstacle unless he pulls a Kiffin. Michigan isn’t in the same conference though if that makes any difference.I tried to find articles that had a list of potential candidates for the Michigan job, but felt the names mentioned wasn't up to par. But with the best taken, the names mentioned might be the best of what's left
Bama's DeBoer is mentioned like he had been for every top opening football scoop said there are rumors he don't like it where he is. > from the scoop (Fair or not, there's a general sense in the coaching community that DeBoer doesn't particularly love the SEC pressure-cooker as Nick Saban's replacement atop the Crimson Tide.
Plus, DeBoer is a Midwest native from South Dakota. And, per a review of his contract terms, can exit Alabama after this season for relatively little money in the world of college athletics; somewhere around $4-5 million)

With signing day over, I’d imagine they’d be more open to waiting until after the playoffs to hire someone off of a playoff teamDeBoer is the popular name that comes up but the playoff run is the obstacle unless he pulls a Kiffin. Yea but there’s still portal to consider. With signing day over, I’d imagine they’d be more open to waiting until after the playoffs to hire someone off of a playoff team
My wildcard is Jim KnowlesYea but there’s still portal to consider.
Wetzel mentioned DeBoer seems fine at Alabama but imo he’s always one loss away from not being fine lol. Unrealistic Saban comparison is always there but he knew that going in.
Fisch seems to be option 2 after DeBoer.
I’d go hard for Dillingham but if he can’t be pried away I’d really consider Haines from IU. He’s got no HC experience so they might not look in his direction.
edit: Feldman threw out Jason Eck from NM as a wildcard candidate
If Jedd Fisch gets Michigan then more realistic and less wildcard than Michigan would be Eck to Washington. My wildcard is Jim Knowles
The more I think about it, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel might decide the best one for the job at this late stage is Minter, warts and all, as long as Biff Poggi will be there to help him step up into being a Head CoachIf Jedd Fisch gets Michigan then more realistic and less wildcard than Michigan would be Eck to Washington.
Coaches in the west and at Idaho and would remind me of a similar move to Petersen to Washington from Boise.
Some think Warde might not even survive because of the things that keep happening but who knows. Fisch coached at Michigan a couple years so that’s why he’s tied to it. He’s good with offense and that’s something they could improve on.The more I think about it, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel might decide the best one for the job at this late stage is Minter, warts and all, as long as Biff Poggi will be there to help him step up into being a Head Coach
Jedd Fisch is a great candidate, but would Michigan want to top his Washington salary ($7.5 mil) and put up the $10 mil to buy his way out of Washington
KryptoniteCooter claims another one…even Petrino is impressed
