He was their like 8th choice…but they’ll announce him like he’s a hybrid between Saban and Smart
He’s not that good but he’s a good option and should have been one of the first imo. He’s done all you could expect and more and ISU.

Now operating at a blue blood is a different animal so we have to see if he can kick it up a notch on that level.

Saw someone say on X (worth nothing, but maybe worth noting) that coaching up 2-3 star recuits is vastly different than coaching 4-5 star recruits. Time will tell. Campbell seems like a decent person, but hope his team fails if he gets the job.

I think that’s right, it is different so time will tell.

This what I’ve said. The big 3 in the B10 are his dream destinations….possibly MSU/Wisc but those 3 for sure. That’s why he’s finally left ISU this time after previous overtures. He’s got his chance now we’ll see.

I tend to think that too. To be so lucky to have Campbell as long as they did was very fortunate. Finding another one like him won't be easy.
Lookout! 😂

As discussed previously, it doesn’t matter if it’s their 4th, 8th or 10th choice. They are landing a very solid HC with a winning track record in a major conf at a school where it isn’t easy to win big. We will see if it works out. If it does, in a few years very few will remember where he was in the pecking order.

On top of GS and Carroll which I’ve mentioned. I didn't realize Rick Pitino was UK’s 4th choice when he got hired.

Looks like Oregon will settle on DM.

Jason Candle and Rams passing game coordinator Nathan Scheelhaase are a couple of names mentioned for ISU. NS coached at ISU from 2018-2023.

I thought Campbell might keep him on and I’m sure he’s being paid well to stay on….trying minimize turnover I assume.

Sounds like he’s going to try to bring Heacock along too. He’s had some really good defenses at times at ISU.

this is absolutely perfect. Not sure he’s an upgrade over JF, but it’s a good hire. Had they made this a month ago it would have been so much better
I don't know that MC will be either. He's good but I couldn't say he'll be as good or better than JF.

I think they were like JF isn't getting us over the hump and he's been here a long time, let's try something else. It doesn't mean something else will get over the hump or be as good as JF but it's just give it a shot with a new person.

I don't watch NFL anymore but reminds me a little of Marty Schottenheimer, got to the playoffs very frequently but could never get over the hump into the Super Bowl, let alone winning one. Andy Reid at Philly would be another and the change of environment actually worked out for both Reid and the Eagles. What PSU is hoping for is what UGA did with Mark Richt. He was very good there but they let him go and Smart has made that decision look very good. That kind of outcome seems more like an exception than a rule but I can understand them wanting to try. Richt did well at Miami too.

The Toledo DC is the guy I wanted for next year. Look at his track record at Toledo. Fran Brown made a great choice in my opinion. I don’t know who GS has in mind, but he better make it a good one.
Oh it was you, sorry thought it was koleszar. Well looks like a solid choice for the Cuse.
