I’ve been seeing this on Twitter and some media haven’t dismissed it out hand. Sitake is a name that would totally surprise me for PSU. Wouldn’t have thought of him if you gave me 10 guesses lol. Maybe it’ll just be a leverage play, we’ll see.

No matter how many times I see it, I’m still surprised by it lol.

20-18 and 2 bowl games for 3 tears wasn't good enough.
The previous HC had a 39-22 record with 3 consictibe bowl games in the 4 years he was there before taking over Liberty's program
Checking his resume , I feel he might have had a pretty good OC career, but nothing that points to being one of the best .

>Coastal has now announced Beck has been let go, and defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson will serve as interim head coach for the upcoming bowl game.
Sources tell FootballScoop that South Carolina defensive coordinator Clayton White is an early name to watch in the Coastal Carolina search; he and Coastal Carolina Athletics Director Chance Miller previously worked for nearly three years together at South Carolina.<
It’s not always about the record. Beck had some off-the-field issues - chugging beer on campus on SportsCenter, posing on the beach with the bikini-clad dance team - that may have contributed to his firing.

Had not realized how much Pat Fitzgerald fell off in his final years at NW:

2017Northwestern10–37–22nd (West)W Music City1717
2018Northwestern9–58–11st (West)W Holiday1921
2019Northwestern3–91–87th (West)
2020Northwestern7–26–11st (West)W Citrus1010
2021Northwestern3–91–8T-6th (West)
2022Northwestern1–111–87th (West)
I knew that and it would give me some pause but he also won’t have the academic issues of a NW so we’ll see. It’s always a crapshoot.

Stranger things have happened, but find it difficult that a Mormon would affiliate himself with a place as unholy as Penn State.
I believe Sitake had some issues with their AD Santiago so that might be part of it. He only makes like 3M too from what I’ve seen online. Reports are PSU is offering 11M for 6 years.

Chesney going out west, Sitake coming east but who knows….sometimes it matters and sometimes it doesn’t. 🤷‍♂️

Surprised Napier is that high on the list. Schiano's buyout is a bit higher than that, and we all know that is not happening, which is prudent. Build up the NIL for another year (or two?), and if no success, we come out ahead.

There is a conspiracy theory that superagent Jimmy Sexton is screwing over Penn State for firing his guy Franklin. A few of their targets either got extensions or wound up somewhere else. Isn't he Schiano's agent?

I saw that not sure I believe it though. Leveraging PSU to get better deals for his clients sure, but shutting out PSU is only a disservice to a client who could be a potential candidate who wants to go there. I think it was Todd McShay who mentioned it.

Sexton orchestrating the polishing up and branding of his clients and making them look good through CGD and E30 I can believe because that's doing your clients a service but boxing out a school, I'm not so sure because that's doing your client a potential disservice.

Sexton is making lots of coaches wealthy. A mediocre coach at UK..82-80 just walked away with $35M
Stoops did some very good things at UK though. 2 10 win seasons and I think they’ve only had 4 of those ever.

The problem with these deals is that they pay a coach as if they’re winning big every year and most can’t live up to that. Thats why I gave that template of highly incentivized deals that have a reasonable base and massive incentives based on wins in conference starting at 5. Then the range could be anything from the base to just about the highest level of the sport. You’re paying for performance in a given year and then reset back to the base the next year. It’s fair to both parties and to me is sensible. With OPM though, I’m not sure we’ll ever see common sense.

So 2 ten win seasons and a lot of mediocrity in between or since. It is UK…football is NOT king there so he lasted 13 years in a league that other may have lasted 1/4 to 1/2 of that time.

To put it in perspective, LSU is on their 4th coach since Saban left, and 2 of them won National Championships.

Just as I said. A religious man would never coach at the gates of hell, Crappy Valley.

They have the crumbl guy and also some nutrabar or something like that founder who can write checks if needed. I think he wanted more for assistants and the like. So a good leverage play. It’s a weird fit for PSU anyway so they might be better off, not sure it would be received wll by their fans too.

I mentioned right at the start of this I thought Matt Campbell would be a choice but I haven’t really seen too much about him except for an occasional mention. What he’s been able to do at ISU is very good. Solid blue collar hard nosed guy…an Elko type guy who would be a nice choice but none of the flash. They seem to want the flash after letting a Franklin go.

Dan Mullen from PA would be another good option but he said he was staying at UNLV at least 2 years. Also not sure if he wants the high profile gig like he had at UF. Miss St might type might be more his speed.

Bob Chesney has a career head coaching record of 131-51 across stops at Salve Regina, Assumption, Holy Cross, and James Madison. He has achieved success at every level, winning conference championships at all four schools and guiding the James Madison Dukes to a 20-5 record in his two seasons there, including a bowl championship in 2024.

Kraft comes off looking like he’s bumbling but it doesn’t mean they can’t bumble and stumble their way into the right coach inspite of himself. Schiano was like the 4th choice when he was hired by Mulcahy. I’m pretty sure Carroll was like 4–5th choice for USC when they hired him. So we’ll see but it’s funny too watch play out lol.
