Arky is in trouble. They were also looking at the North Texas coach.
Alex Golesh of USF is still available , my choice would be the Memphis HC Ryan Silverfield, but I've been reading
University of Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack is being mentioned as a top candidate who at 38 has head coaching experience as the South Alabama HC from 2021 to 2023 (22-16) before he resigned and became Bama's DC in 2024

Think Mora wanted to be out west near his roots. Every opening I saw him tied to, Oregon St, Stanford, Cal, was out west. I actually hadn’t seen the CSU connection mentioned.

Eck and Chesney are my 2 favorites for the not in the P4 coaches group. I think Chesney will get something (PSU, UCLA). Not sure if Eck will get anything worthy of making him leave NM after 1 year. If Fickell can’t turn things around next year that would be the natural fit.

"In 2017, Colorado State opened a new stadium, which cost more than $200 million. The school has ambitions to be relevant at the highest levels of college athletics, as Weber has said Colorado State's goals are to compete for the College Football Playoff."

Wonder if he was in serious consideration for any P4 jobs, and if so, he decided at his age and with what Colorado State was offering, this was a good fit for him to perhaps finish his career.

Edit- if what this guy says is true, maybe he wanted to closer to his home in Idaho.

Through this weekend, the carousel will likely speed up.

Lot of guesses towards LSU for Kiffin.

Silverfield and Golesh for Ark.

UCLA still high on Chesney but probably waiting on PSU

Looks like some former P4 coaches and lower level G5 coaches could get looks in the AAC….Fitzgerald, Fisher, Candle, Huff, Napier, Brown

Found this article about Mora Jr taking the job and his loseing a job after talking about his dream coaching job.
>Mora Jr. was the head coach of the UCLA Bruins from 2012-2017, compiling a 46-30 record and a 2-2 record in bowls. He is currently 3-3 in such games when combined with his record at UConn.

This seems like a home run hire for the Rams at first, and it very well may be, as Mora has a proven track record of winning wherever he goes, at least in the short term, which is really all Rams fans need right now. However, I must caution Rams fans to one particular thing that has flared up in the past with regards to Mora: the Washington Huskies.<

He’s an alum of UW but Fisch has a 10M buyout to leave UW. Fisch is a UF alum and would love to go there but don’t know if UF wants to pay the 10M or not.

I heard on a pod that Fisch was roommates at UF with Howie Roseman the Eagles GM (don’t follow NFL but they say a top GM in the league) and he could help hook Fisch up with a GM for college.

Can keep on coaching UNT as well

Possibly Morris' replacement at North Texas , someone who coached at Rutgers
Pete Rossomando is being mentioned as a potential candidate to replace Eric Morris as the head coach at North Texas.

From an article on HERO Sports

If UNT were to look to the FCS ranks, similar to what the Mean Green did when they hired Morris, Rossomando’s name could come up. He hasn’t been at Lamar very long, but his tenure there has been impressive.

In 2023, his first season as head coach of the Cardinals, the team had won a single game the previous year and just five games in the three seasons prior. Under Rossomando’s leadership, Lamar put together the fourth-biggest single-season turnaround in the FCS by going 6-5 overall. Rossomando was an Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award finalist.

And now this season, Lamar earned a berth in the FCS playoffs.

Rossomando has also briefly been an FBS head coach. He was an interim head coach at Charlotte in 2022, and the 49ers went 2-2 during that time. He was also an offensive line coach there.

Before that, he was an O-line coach at Vanderbilt in 2020 and Rutgers in 2019. He was also a head coach at Central Connecticut State. He led that program to its first FCS playoffs appearance ever. He was also a head coach at the University of New Haven, which made the Division II playoffs twice during his tenure and was ranked as highly as No. 3 in the country.

Rossomando has the head coaching experience and FBS experience to be a candidate for any G5 program, including UNT.

Southern is a good place to start his HCing career

Trent Differ went from a successful HS HC to running UAB and sucked at the job

Marshall is going from being a College Running Back ( first year) coach to being the main man

I hope he does as good as Deion did at Jackson State

While interim head coach Fred McNair has been in consideration for the job, numerous sources tell FootballScoop that Southern officials are zeroing in their search on Marshall Faulk.

Looks like Alex Golesh to Ark

Still haven’t seen it mentioned by any of the more mainstream CFB media but the guys at footballscoop are usually pretty good with info. Maybe they’re waiting for an official end to USF’s season before announcing.

That was when Frank Kush had the Sun Devils hotter than Arizona's climate and ruled the WAC most of the 70s
Wasn't too shabby in the PAC . under Frank in 1978 ,
ASU fired him for interfering with the school investigating an incident he was said to have been involved in
He was allowed to coach one last game( 5th game of the 1979 season) after being fired, ASU upset the #6 Cornhuskers and Frank was carried off the field by the team .

Glad to see the Drink staying at a program he built into a good one that might become elite under him
Too often coaches come in, turn a program into a good one that gas a chance to be elite only to go to a down on their luck elite one because they think they have a better chance to win a National Championship there then the one they made close to a NC contender

True but $10.7M at mizzou…it’s like the CFB equivalent of an irrational housing market…but hey good for him.

I take ED’s signing(was a UF candidate, possibly PSU as well) and LSU settling the Kelly buyout as signs that Lane is likely leaving.

On Lea, IDK, but his name was being raised for openings:

2021Vanderbilt2–100–87th (Eastern)
2022Vanderbilt5–72–67th (Eastern)
2023Vanderbilt2–100–87th (Eastern)
2024Vanderbilt7–63–5T–11thW Birmingham
2025Vanderbilt9–25–2
Vanderbilt:25–3510–29

But ADs are lemmings, remember this is what justified a 3 year extension for Greg. At least Lea notched a 9 win season, beat ranked teams, got Vanderbilt ranked, and and got interest in getting hired by other programs:

19-28//9-27

2020Rutgers3–63–65th (East)
2021Rutgers5–82–76th (East)L Gator
2022Rutgers4–81–87th (East)
2023Rutgers7–63–65th (East)W Pinstripe

I’d like to see what Lea does without Pavia. Kill and Beck just as important.

Vandy taking steps to keep on winning ,or at least hope they are keeping the HC to do that.
>Clark Lea is signing a 6-year extension to remain at Vanderbilt, the program announced Friday.
ESPN reported the deal comes with "numerous assets" for the program in addition to a raise for Lea. Specific terms were not disclosed. <

Jamarcus Shephard was the other name to watch.

LSU seems like a bit of a clusterf____ right now. AD fired, Governor involved. . . . . would avoid.

Interesting post:

LSU "a clusterf____" is true
But I feel the powers to be ( that caused the "a clusterf____") will push for Sumrall and get him while Kiffin stays put.
Florida might wind up taking Kane Wommack the Bama DC, if they're not willing to pay Jedd Fisch's $10 mil buyout
who I think would jump at the chance to coach the Gators if offered and buyout paid
