I think we've seen the last of Mazza for awhile. With two off days in the next five, I think he gets DFA'd and then brought back to Syracuse after going unclaimed. The question is which position player comes up. I think we see the return of Ruben Tejada.

I'm hoping Dilson but yes I agree. That's why I wanted to throw Mazza in today to save everyone else. Again wasn't a major deal regardless.

Let me throw another name out there - Arismendy Alcantara. Hitting .295 in Syracuse, is a switch hitter and can play anywhere.

I think it's best to leave Mantle and Griffey out of the comparable's for McNeil.

Why? I am comparing 2nd year in the majors. Nothing else. In no way- zero zippo nada would I ever even compare them overall or where their careers end up. McNeil falls closer to a potential Brett/Boggs/Gwynn/Puckett type of potential. And that is even saying a lot and doubtful he can do it as there are not many in history that can compare careers with those guys.
So, just lighten up and enjoy it...

Giants doing us no favors this year. Zippo

Edit: 1 - at least they didn't trade Madbum to the team that shall remain nameless.

On a side note, I have had a partial season ticket package for the Mets since 2015. I am going to Saturday’s game and I haven’t been this psyched for a mets game since the 2016 wild card game for which I was actually nervous and not confident about.

See the aforementioned Madbum. 9 innings of squat was penned in.

And of course familia tossing up a 3 run homer to a dog - was it Culbertson- in the 9th inning. Ugh. Long car ride home. As was after game 5 of World Series the year before.

It was the beginning of the end after Syndergaard was pulled. WS felt like a sinking feeling from play one with Cespedes loafing around like he was playing a street-ball game instead of Game 1 of a WS. Counting the minutes until he is off the books.

The big key the rest of the way is how we perform on the road. Need to win at a higher percentage than up to this point. The Nats are the only WC contender with a winning record both at home and away. Hope we start to change that this coming weekend also.

Gomez is not an option. When he was DFA'd at the end of June, he declined assignment to Syracuse and elected free agency. To my knowledge he remains unsigned. I guess they could look into re-signing him, but I have no idea if he's even been working out. He had a few good moments with the Mets, but his .198/.278/.337 really isn't much of an upgrade.

It's a shame Rajai Davis is injured, otherwise I think he'd get another chance.

I don't see Espinosa as an upgrade. He hasn't played in the bigs since 2017 when he slashed a mere .173/.245/.278. He's done OK at Syracuse, but Ruben Tejada and Dilson Herrera have outperformed him. So, for that matter, has Guillorme.
FWIW, Rajai Davis is off the IL and played nine innings tonight for Syracuse. So he could be in the mix for promotion too.

.5 game after last night tied with the Cards. Phils and Brews are in a virtual tie for the 2nd WC with the Nats being a half game ahead of them.

Assuming the starting staffs are healthy, the two teams in the NL playoffs that others would prefer not face are the Mets and Nats. The 162 game season is the grind it out long haul. The playoffs, a pedal to metal drag race.

Phillies are the only one of the Wild Card 6 to play today/tonight. At San Francisco. Nola vs. Bumgardner.

Well earned off day today then a HUGE series vs. the Nats. We get Corbin and Strasburg the first two. Anyone know if Mad Max is available for Sunday?

If we are going to be in the mix, it starts now with at least 2 out of 3 against the Nats. I think we are 11 or 12 games under .500 against winning teams so we have to start beating the better teams in the league.
