You think if he stays he will learn how to play pick and roll defense? He is too slow laterally and can’t jump over a phone book. If he comes back, he slows down the putrid offense we have.

Well, that and he got a ton of garbage rebounds off his own missed layups. He also tends to get a lot of defensive rebounds because he actually fails to rotate correctly and challenge drives to the basket OR is too lazy to rotate to help and gets sealed off by his own man. A very flawed player. But hey, I've already been killed in my own thread on this topic lol.
This is exactly correct. How many times in history have you ever seen the returning NPOY be the exact person every team intentionally attacks when they are on offense? Literally, every team's scouting report was some variation of "Force Oscar to guard on the perimeter and in PnRs". Every. Single. Team.
He won NPOY last year. How much better could Cal and the rest of the staff "figured out how to use him"? I swear, some people just say anything on here without using a shred of common sense.
This right here! He says a lot of wonderful things that play much better in a congregation on Sundays that they do in a locker room. I think he's such his own dude that he has a very hard time relating to his teammates and was never really the vocal leader of the locker room.
Except...he doesn't? A lot of his offensive rebounds are inflated because he takes 15-20 shots at the rim each game and only shoots 50%-ish. Gives him multiple rebounds off his own misses each game.
Any team in the Country would want Oscar to come back. Many of our problems have been let's move to the next flavor. A good Coach could identify Oscar's weaknesses and adapt his style of play to minimize his deficiencies.

I'd take him back and be excited if he decided to do so. I don't care about his religion or that he talks about it openly. Now if I met him for an autograph and he started preaching to me and asking me if I've found Jesus in my life, I'd probably have to say "dude, not now man". But if religion is what keeps him hopping and getting rebounds and loving Kentucky enough to come back, by all means, feel free (just don't shove it in my face...

Yea I mean I was clearly exaggerating on the shot attempts part, but overall he shoots slightly above 50% from the field and the majority of his shots come right at the rim.
