would you be ok with almost guaranteed losses @ ranked opponents on the road if it meant the next year you get a game against them at home? You want to play duke , UNC, KU at home.. well they'll demand games on their court also and those are basically losses.

Im not ok with giving away games like that just so you can get a home game every other year.

Why put all of the above as an option? It's a cop out, and I'm sure it's what most will pick. I don't have social media, and I'm not about to start now, so I can't view the results.

We addressed these issues in the thread I started the other night.

TV is the biggest factor, but all the other factors combine to make TV the biggest factor.

-I pay for cable...why would I want to shell out expensive ticket money to sit anywhere decent (ie not nosebleeds)?

-I can't buy beer at the game, but I can watch the game at home with beer a step away.

-When I get off work, I don't have to haul *** downtown to park, find a spot to park and walk a mile or pay to park. I just hop into my chair and flip on the game.

-I don't have to worry about anyone telling me to sit down, or to stop hollering, when I'm watching it on TV.

-I can order a large pizza, or a full order of wings, for the price of water and a hot dog there.

-If the opponent is a poor one, it's very difficult when going paycheck to paycheck to keep the house above board to justify spending the discretionary income to go, especially when you combine all those other factors in, when you can just as easily watch at home.

And the truth is other than the big games, the environment with the fans is 100 times better at about any bar and grille place around town. Plenty of cheering and hollering and people having fun, not acting like they are out for a night on Broadway.

The profiteering level prices for food and drink doesn’t help, why try to exorbitantly charge fans? It’s hard to believe it costs vending that much to cover their costs and profit.

For me I like the idea of a home and home with UL, IU and UNC. Kinda like it used to be. Toss in a few decent games plus the Champions Classic and I'd be thrilled.

Hypothetically, could even dump IU and pick up one with UC now that Cronin is gone.

It is absurd how much the tickets are, so that is my pick....but that is all sporting events these days. Part of it is I wont go unless I have good tickets. At this point with TV I don't see the reasoning other than to just be there, you definitely have a better view at home than sitting upper level.

Voted all of the above. Tickets may be falling compared to years past but still way too much for me being a disabled vet, immobile now and I have to get someone to take me so I've only been once, Samford '11-12 year. Hell of a year to pick a game to see! Would go to every game if I had the means. UK is my life.

I love my Cats, but why would I spend that kind of money to watch the type of product we get in the early season. I’m on board and understand we play for March, but that doesn’t mean I want to spend a bunch of money while I wait for the team to “click” in mid-February.
This is how I feel. I went to the Evansville game. Went to Blue White game. I know my lengthy post above sounds curmudgeonly. I go to several games a year. But the truth is its hard to want to spend the money when we are playing a poor opponent and we arent a cohesive team yet either. This is UK not Cupcake State. We expect a semi polished product in November.

Travel distance is certainly the reason for me, which obviously doesn’t apply to the reason for attendance decline as a whole.

They do a poor job of amping up the crowd. Football games have done a marginally better job. There were a handful of things folks looked forward to, like Dancing Guy, that they got rid of. You know...the few things worth not changing...they change. Meanwhile, we have miraculously finally moved on as a program from the Bay City Rollers. The powers that be just dont get it and for the life of me I dont understand why.

This is me too. I'm in Charleston, WV so it's about 2 hr 30 mins a trip.

It makes it impossible for a 9pm weekday game and extremely difficult for a 7pm game.

I go to BBM and the Blue White game and I try to make one or two trips for games but I'm getting old to the point where I don't wanna be on the road at 11pm midnight lol

Reasons to not go.

*Ticket prices
*Concession prices
*Parking prices
*Souvenir prices
*Gas prices
*Bathroom lines
*Cheap big screen TV's
*TV is the equivalent of probably mid lower arena while I would be stuck sitting in the top of the upper arena.
*Uncomfortable seating for a bad back.
*2 hour game sandwiched between 3 hours of driving with a bad back.
*Better food and clean bathroom a few seconds away from my comfortable couch.
*Crappy schedule not worth all of the financial investments.
*Life getting in the way (family responsibilities).
*More important things to spend money on.
*Getting burnt out with the OAD era.
*Just don't love sports as much as I used to.

Probably could add more but I will stop there.

UK basketball is making millions upon millions of dollars. We pay our coach and AD top dollars in their marketplace. Why would UK want to change anything? So buckle up because ticket prices will continue to go up and students will continue to stay in their dorms or local bars.

You don't change a money maker until the bottom falls out. Then you dig out of the ditch. What we need to do is caution the camera man not to show empty seats and consider piping in "cheers" so people watching on TV will think the crowd is into the game.

I always try to make one game a season. Preferably, in December.

I don't mind the traffic, parking, etc.

For me, it's just the cost has gotten ridiculous.

This, plus. Every time I attended games I would see several from the Jackson Purchase area, where I live. Age catches up, prices go up etc. Younger fans just don't support like the old crowd did. We used to drive 4 or 5 hours watch the game, drive home and go to work. How many younger fans do that today, not many?

Lack of on campus arena is a barrier for students. Getting down there, especially from the Towers area (obviously my frame of reference has been a while) is tough.

What say you Rupp Rafters?
Cable and satellite TV televising every UK game, including the launching of the SEC Channel, are the only factor that has changed in recent years. UK sports tickets are among the least expensive in the SEC. So the TV option is the reason. How do we know this? Because it is happening in most college spectator sports venues across the country, not just in Lexington.

For me it’s TV. I have the best possible view from my couch looking at my 70 inch TV. I get replays, reverse angles, closeups, slo-mo, I can pause, rewind, etc...

I record the games as I go so I can watch twice if it’s a good game. Or I can go out to dinner with my better half and watch the game on my schedule, fast forwarding thru commercials and halftime crap.

Absolutely. Before all the games started being televised, we'd go to several games a year, driving an 8+ hour round round trip, sometimes with the weather being dicey. After the arrival of the SECN, we quit going. The TV experience has gotten so much better that I have no incentive to go, even if I didn't live in Florida like I do now.

Aging fan base is my reason. I had season tickets for 42 years before giving them up last year. In the early years I went to every game (150 mile round trip). Even during the blizzard year I didn’t miss a game. I gradually stopped going to some of the week night and 9 pm games until the last 5 years I was only going to 2 or 3 games per year. My reasons for giving up my tickets were age related. I don’t see well at night so that eliminates all night and late afternoon games. I don’t enjoy the early season games. It got so it wasn’t worth the hassle.
Now I go to the CBS Sports Classic and watch the rest on TV

I don’t live in Kentucky anymore but still go to College Station each time they play there. Rarely miss a game on TV. Aging fan base and cost are definitely factors, but, for me, the product on the court is usually painful to watch. Even when winning, there’s no offensive rhythm, can’t defend the high ball screen, non-existent fast break, etc.

I had a family member that had season tickets since the late 70's and I would purchase several games a year for myself. The cost is just getting so expensive when you figure in parking and eats and me living a little over 2 hours round trip. Honestly there is very few games a year I would think worth going to and with the comfort of home on a HD big screen TV I would rather watch them at home.
