In recent years my norm has been to see a couple or three games per season in Rupp and one or two games on the road and, face it, basketball tickets are cheaper pretty much everywhere else in the SEC.
This year I am coming more often because this year, after trying the lottery for more than 20 years, I have season tickets. I don't know how many seasons we will try to hang on to the season tickets though. I'm not as young as I used to be and climbing up to row R was easier when I was 37 than it is now at 57.
Parking is expensive unless you're willing to walk six blocks or more. Concessions have nose-dived in quality and prices have soared. Face value on the tickets has really shot up. Harder to connect with the team on a more personal level with the bulk of the team only staying for one season as opposed to back when I was really proud to say I was at the game in Athens, GA when Chuck Hayes scored his way into the 1,000 point club late in his senior season.
So....... all these reasons mentioned so far. Going to the games live is costly and requires some deal of sacrifice to make it happen.
BUT BY GOLLY - I have those season tickets finally and I want to hang on to them a little longer even though 9pm weeknight games are non-starters.....
