So yeskie turns us down last year in hopes that he will be the next head man at Oregon state this year and they hire someone else? Lol

Even though it didn’t work out that he got the promotion, it seems like a reasonable approach. I’m sure he will land on his feet.

I really doubt he will wind up with a job anywhere close to the one he reportedly could have had last year. Glad things worked out the way they did for us, don't really care how they work out for OSU or Yeskie. Lost a lot of respect for Casey and that whole program after the way they covered up for the child molester.

Haha such a terrible take. I mean it literally can't get any worse.

What is the job he reportedly could have had last year? Only thing he was ever in the running for at MSU was pitching coach under Lemonis. That’s more or less a lateral move from where he is now.

I got confused on who supposedly turned us down for what. I take that part of my post back. He took a reasonable gamble & lost.

"It would figure Oregon State would do everything it can to keep Yeskie, as it would figure other schools would show interest in him as a head coach. One of those schools rumored to show interest in Yeskie was Mississippi State before it hired Chris Lemonis."
https://www.nevadaappeal.com/sports...o-celebrate-national-title-with-oregon-state/

"Yeskie has been the team’s pitching coach for 11 years, during which time the team produced such stars as Andrew Moore and Matt Boyd. Yeskie was considered the favorite for the job if Bailey didn’t return, and has turned down head coaching offers from major schools in the past, including Mississippi State last year."

You shouldn't have taken it back. While none of us know the real facts, there were strong rumors Yeskie was offered our HC job, or was at least a candidate.

Yeah, I’m calling BS that he turned down our HC job. That reads like a “thanks but no thanks” was given to him before we hired Lemonis, and him saving face. Although, we might have at least done an introductory or courtesy interview as a Plan F or G. Cohen would have been borderline comatose to offer him the job over Lemonis or any of the other rumored candidates.

There was a big enough meltdown as it was when we hired Lemonis, and he was a dude with a 4-year track record as a HC with decent results at a historical have-not program. Things would have gone nuclear if we handed the job to a 17ing pitching coach.

Did they coverup for him? I didn’t realize that. Yikes.

Not exactly. Guy insisted he was innocent but pled guilty b/c that's what his attorney counseled him and his family to do. Supposedly he and/or his family didn't realize he'd have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life (or maybe didn't realize the consequences of that). Can't remember if they claimed the attorney didn't explain it or if the law changed after the guilty plea to capture what he pled to, which does happen sometimes.

Guy was like 15 when it happened I think, and Oregon St. just admitted him and didn't advertise that he was a registered sex offender. Either a journalist found out or maybe he got in trouble for not properly registering when he was at Oregon St. I may not have the facts all correct, but at the time it was getting publicity, I thought Oregon St. probably handled it ok. If he was actually guilty, it was pretty horrendous, but at the same time, if the courts and laws do not put the guy in prison, I'm not sure it's a public university's job to further punish him beyond his sentence.

He was never offered our job. He was never going to be our HC. He got a raise and title for a year.

Like how there was a huge meltdown when we hired a hitting coach from LSU with no HC experience? Oh wait...there wasn't a meltdown then. In fact, there was a great deal of excitement about that hire up until he screwed-the-pooch (pun intended).

Reality is, I don't know what really happened, and I suspect you don't either, so we are both left with speculation. But your response to patdog was counter to what the media was reporting at the time, which is what patdog was referencing.

There was no melt with Cannizaro because we were basically screwed into taking a chance on an unproven guy by the timing of the hire. No proven HC at a high level is ever leaving his current job for a new one after fall camp and 2 months before the start of the season. Apples and oranges.

Regarding the “speculation”, it would be incredibly stupid on an astronomical level for us offer a position coach with no ties to the South our HC job, and it would be even more stupid for said coach to turn it down. It’s an enormous logical leap to think both of those ridiculously dumb things happened simultaneously, and from an Occam’s Razor standpoint it makes way more sense that we had some informal opening talks before we passed on him, or maybe we didn’t call back so he “withdrew” from the job. In those situations, the guy who didn’t get the job can always say whatever he wants without rebuke. I also don’t expect buildingthedam.com to be some unbiased pillar of journalistic virtue either.

Yeah from what I remember, it was all out in the open. The guy did his legal time, similar to Jeffrey Simmons, no matter what our opinions may be.

Too bad those sports media professionals, etc. don't know half as much as you do about baseball and college athletics. Your obvious wisdom and superior intellect would save them from so much embarrassment.**

You are truly a piece-of-work. So in your mind, it's more probable that a guy with a stellar rep like Yeske would go out and promote a false narrative about himself and job opportunities...something that could be held against him in the small, tight community of college baseball coaches & AD's than it is that he actually got some real interest and consideration for a HC job at a school in the aftermath of the Cann fiasco?

Brilliant...that is.

I guess you also believe that only applies to baseball, you know, since the AD who interviewed and hired our baseball coach is the same one who hired a football coach with no coaching experience down here.

So much complete horse **** (to the surprise of few, I’m sure). Great job keeping up the rep as the biggest dick on the board who throws out insults to anyone who disagrees with you in a civil discussion. I’ll at least attempt to wade through some of it against my better judgment.

First off, a football coach with no experience down here? Moorhead had several years on the books as a very successful college HC. Maybe you missed that on his resume. That makes a big difference. Apples and oranges, again, when comparing to a career assistant.

Secondly, I’m not saying Yeskie deliberately misled anyone. We call, ask a few questions about his interest, etc., don’t call back for a while, he maybe calls us and wants to know the deal, we are noncommittal, he says thanks but no thanks to avoid the formal rejection. He can tell that story in certain circles, and someone can run with it and tell the media he turned the job down. Happens all the time.

You are basically calling both Cohen and Yeskie dumbasses to insinuate that he turned down a legit job offer from us. I don’t believe either of those to be true. You want to believe it, that’s on you, I guess.

Anyway, I’m sure the rest of the board will enjoy your 17 paragraph retort. But here’s a hint, I won’t see it.

You can 100% plead guilty and not have done it though.
I don’t know if he is innocent or not, but the guy has paid a very heavy price already and is still paying it.

People expect hardened criminals to get a second chance.

It also had a lot to do with his sister in law wanting to press charges. The alleged victim was a niece. Parents don’t believe he did it and it was their grand daughter.

Seems like a lot we don’t know and never will.

Yeah, you probably should not expect people to believe you after you plead guilty, but innocent people do plead guilty. Especially if your attorney advises you that if you dont plead guilty and try to go to court it could be much worse. Sometimes people will plead guilty just to get a deal instead of risking a worse punishment in trail. I have no idea what happened with the Oregon kid. I did read an article during the world series last year that made it clear the whole family is full of drama. It was a family member that accused him, and according to what I read some family believe him and some dont. If I remember correctly some say the accusation was made to get back at the kids parents.

I have no idea if he really was guilty. But that is the type of thing that if someone does make up a lie and accused you of, its almost impossible to prove your innocence. Its just his word against another. In this case it sounded like it was two kids words against each other and a bunch of adults who didn't get along.

Sad story all around

A. "I won't see it" LMAO. Nobody believes that...nobody. You're reading this right now and getting red-faced about it. You're like OM fans who create dozens of threads about us, while trying to simultaneously claim they don't care about us. Both full of crap.

B. While I certainly have my detractors, and frankly don't judge my value or worthiness by what any anonymous MB board trolls post and think, it is HILARIOUS that you don't seem to realize you suffer the same.

C. You continue to be dishonest (to the surprise of few, I'm sure). You weren't being at all civil before I got uncivil with you. In fact, I've somewhat recently complimented a post you made here, because, unlike you, I don't attack people's posts on a board simply because I think they are jackasses in general.

D. You want us to believe John Cohen would never in a million years have hired Yeske, yet he would have gone ahead and wasted his precious time "talking to him out of courtesy", even reaching out to him unsolicited. Yep...that's Grade A stupid **** there. Seriously...you want us to believe Cohen would pick up the phone, call Yeske to gauge his interest, all the while knowing there was no way in hell he was ever going to consider hiring him because, in your words it would be, "incredibly stupid on an astronomical level", not to mention there is no way in hell Cohen initiates a call to Yeske before he has invested plenty of time researching him, etc.

Yes, there is some, "incredibly stupid on an astronomical level" **** going on here. It's your posts.

E. The reference to football was with regard to your point about not being from the area. JoMO's HC experience was at Fordham. While he did a good job there, the level of play there is hardly the kind of thing that separates him that much to qualify as the HC at an SEC school. Need I list for you the number of HC's in the SEC today who got the jobs without having prior HC experience?

As usual, your logic is flawed at best, and as usual, you make an *** of yourself by beating that dead horse to a pulp. Bottom line is patdog made reference to reports and rumors that Yeske had been offered our HC job. You called it BS. I then "civilly" gave you sources that supported patdog's post, responded to another of your posts civilly, stating neither of us really knew and were speculating and you proceeded to get your panties twisted, as you always do. That's where this thread took the turn with you going with, "incredibly stupid on an astronomical level", "enormous logical leap", and "ridiculously dumb" to describe the mere thought that what patdog and the sources I cited said was being reported. All this because it contradicted what you posted, and you sometimes pitch a fit when that happens, particularly when confronted with facts that call your inaccurate statements into question.

You also posted Cohen would more likely have been contacting him to be pitching coach, not HC expecting this board to believe it more likely Cohen would be doing that before he got his HC, rather than actually considering Yeskie for HC.

There's your long paragraph, jackass. If you want them shorter, stop giving me so many stupid comments to address.
