You might need to educate yourself on what constitutes grounds for asylum. And I agree, seeking asylum is not a crime. They’re certainly capable of seeking asylum at designated points of entry, and that’s not “surprise! I’m here, i want asylum”. If they follow the process, immigrate legally, I’m 100% for them coming here. If they follow the process and seek asylum correctly, and are awarded such, I’m 100% in favor of it. I’m 100% opposed to gaming the system.
If you want facts, >80% who seek asylum aren’t qualified for it. The uptick in asylum seekers happened to coincide with our ceasing the catch and release policy. The asylum angle was a strategy being coached by Liberal immigrant advocacy groups meant to overwhelm our immigration system and create an inability to process them in a timely manner thus allowing them to go free into the interior pending adjudication which they don’t show up for. Throw in the “sanctuary city” angle, it creates a haven for them to run to. The democratic strategy behind this was increasing population into states which are predominantly democratic for the census to allow for an increase in elected representatives and funding for those states. Obviously, they’re also banking on additional illegal voters that “doesn’t ever happen”, laughable.
I’m a parent like many of these “asylum seekers” claim to be. Personally, I’d never put my children in a situation like that. That’s not to mention the ones that are sold to the cartels to assist in the human trafficking. I’d never intentionally use my children as props which could see them suffer.
I’m curious, and I ask this a lot for people who take the angle of “they’re just looking for a better life.” Why are you ok with exploiting illegals for cheap labor? Why are you ok with illegals being exploited by the cartels and murdered en masse as necessary? That’s what you’re arguing for unless you’re advocating for open borders. If it’s the latter, you’re just seditious.
We’re under zero obligation or have any responsibility to other nation’s citizenry. We likely disagree on that point and it’s fine.
