I'm in the camp that if the line can be mediocre instead of terrible (and maybe even decent in run blocking), Whipple and the skill guys can work with it. That is assuming the defense also continues to grade up. More reliable play on the interior DL allows for rotation with more confidence. We will see what the edge guys can do against Perdue.

I was watching close how badly our oline played last night.. they were ok in certain run blocking but overall just not good. Clearly DR isnt the answer and I know with Teddy hurt for the year and Nouilli out.. can they find guys to fix this? Hixson was decent but honestly the rest are polar bears on skates.so many whiffs out there... I did like the mesh and short crosses with CT rolling out of the pocket but damn man who needs a shot on that oline that hasnt gotten one?
Yes

Ohhh sorry. Thought you said flexible.

No..

Your tackles can’t just stand them up at the LOS. I agree I would like a little bigger commitment to the run game but defenses are daring us to throw it deep with the way they attack our run game.
why? I know it's not normal, but why can't you snap it to the QB in shotgun, and for your line to stand up the defenders, or even push forward, instead of backpedaling?

That clip I was referring to looked like we had problems backpedaling and blocking in a typical passblock scenario, especially with the guards..

I know they want to create a pocket around the QB, but if your guys have trouble with the footwork in back pedaling, why not have them do more neutral or even forward blocking (as long as you don't get guys downfield).

Yeah it doesn't create a pocket for the QB, but my thinking was if we have guys that can't backpedal at all, maybe you help yourself getting a hat on a hat for a longer period of time by eliminating the whole backpedal and pocket concept altogether

Could def be done. Treat pass plays as run plays blocking scheme wise. Pull guys on both like we did in that TD pass to Volkolek.

D ends and linebackers will run circles around your OTs if you just stand up in pass pro.

I really hope Joseph has enough control of the game plan that he can insist that the offense is kept as simple as possible this Saturday and the OL can be serviceable not great just serviceable. We need the offense to be plain vanilla going forward and hopefully keep penalties to a minimum and we just might win a few more games this year.

I believe he meant to stand them up as in more of a run block than pass pro. Our guys seem to at least do a tad better on run plays when they can maybe get all up in the defenders grill on the los.
