Greg Austin got fired. You would expect any one of the other 18 OLmen who have been here for 2-3-4 years to be able to step in and perform. Not at Cam's level, but at least be average.

Excuses! We lost a 2nd round pick at Center and then lost our best two returning OL in Nouili and Teddy. Added all new offense and coaches. What did people expect at this moment?
Excuses or reasons. Greg Austin got fired in part because of his recruiting bustsExcuses!
Competent Oline playWe lost a 2nd round pick at Center and then lost our best two returning OL in Nouili and Teddy. Added all new offense and coaches. What did people expect at this moment?
YesI was watching close how badly our oline played last night.. they were ok in certain run blocking but overall just not good. Clearly DR isnt the answer and I know with Teddy hurt for the year and Nouilli out.. can they find guys to fix this? Hixson was decent but honestly the rest are polar bears on skates.so many whiffs out there... I did like the mesh and short crosses with CT rolling out of the pocket but damn man who needs a shot on that oline that hasnt gotten one?
why? I know it's not normal, but why can't you snap it to the QB in shotgun, and for your line to stand up the defenders, or even push forward, instead of backpedaling?Your tackles can’t just stand them up at the LOS. I agree I would like a little bigger commitment to the run game but defenses are daring us to throw it deep with the way they attack our run game.
Could def be done. Treat pass plays as run plays blocking scheme wise. Pull guys on both like we did in that TD pass to Volkolek.why? I know it's not normal, but why can't you snap it to the QB in shotgun, and for your line to stand up the defenders, or even push forward, instead of backpedaling?
That clip I was referring to looked like we had problems backpedaling and blocking in a typical passblock scenario, especially with the guards..
I know they want to create a pocket around the QB, but if your guys have trouble with the footwork in back pedaling, why not have them do more neutral or even forward blocking (as long as you don't get guys downfield).
Yeah it doesn't create a pocket for the QB, but my thinking was if we have guys that can't backpedal at all, maybe you help yourself getting a hat on a hat for a longer period of time by eliminating the whole backpedal and pocket concept altogether
D ends and linebackers will run circles around your OTs if you just stand up in pass pro.why? I know it's not normal, but why can't you snap it to the QB in shotgun, and for your line to stand up the defenders, or even push forward, instead of backpedaling?

I believe he meant to stand them up as in more of a run block than pass pro. Our guys seem to at least do a tad better on run plays when they can maybe get all up in the defenders grill on the los.D ends and linebackers will run circles around your OTs if you just stand up in pass pro.
as opposed to running over in a straight line?D ends and linebackers will run circles around your OTs if you just stand up in pass pro.
Well there is thatas opposed to running over in a straight line?
