Don’t care.No ifs ands and buts. They are better than Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
Nope, they are right we’re they should be 6.No ifs ands and buts. They are better than Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
Not a chance. They should’ve beat Purdue or at least not get totally blown out. Oklahoma “canceled out” their only loss and and ND like it or not is undefeated. No ifs ands and buts. They are better than Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

Agreed.
We did Ohio State no favors by being a 4 loss Division Champ. If we went in with one or two losses, I think OSU would be in today.
The problem is the shifting criteria and implicit bias.Agreed.

Granted Clemson is unbeaten, but they got to beat up on a five-loss Pitt team that lost 51-9 to Penn State earlier this year and nobody seemed to have much comment on that.
That was just their last game. They didn’t need to make up lost ground like OSU did after getting pasted by Purdue. Bad losses may outweigh good wins especially in the second half of the season. OSU’s inconsistency does not bode well for a playoff matchup as the committee might be concerned they’d have an off day like that and get pasted by Bama or Clemson.Granted Clemson is unbeaten, but they got to beat up on a five-loss Pitt team that lost 51-9 to Penn State earlier this year and nobody seemed to have much comment on that.

Interestingly I think if OSU would’ve beaten Purdue and their loss was a close one to Michigan instead, and say we beat Michigan in the title game, I wonder where a one loss OSU would be ranked?
No ifs ands and buts. They are better than Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

Good, it'll just increase pressure for an actual playoff.
Can't happen soon enough. The regular season should be reduced and an 8 team tournament should be initiated for next year. Why should duh-OSU get screwed for a one-game lapse? They're as good as any team this season IMO. (E-Cat, forgive me.) Why shouldn't GA get another swing at the title? They already came close against Bammer and next time might be winners.
Hell with the bowl fiefdoms.
But we like OSU getting screwed. Of course we also like ND getting screwed and we could not get both.No ifs ands and buts. They are better than Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
Yes yes yes. What is wrong with teams having the opportunity to go out winners? It's fun. You know, fun? Aren't sports supposed to be fun? Fun, fun, fun sang the noted philosophers, The Beach Boys.yeah, to hell with the other 121 teams in FBS wanting something to play for!
yeah, to hell with the other 121 teams in FBS wanting something to play for! For that matter, why should the playoffs be single elimination? We should structure them like the World Cup and make the teams play a few times a week for a month!
Couldn't disagree more. Bowls are a blast, and seeing the same teams every year playing in a tournament that's the same as every other sport is just boring. Yeah, ever since they moved to a playoff, all we ever hear about are who or who should be the top four teams, especially nonstop Alabama. I’m sick of the whole thing.Couldn't disagree more. F them. That program can drink drano and die. Meyer is a complete Arse. Fact is, Im glad we knocked them out by keeping it a one score game before Mayo had a few complete meltdowns. No ifs ands and buts. They are better than Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
As an OSU fan, we don’t belong in a playoff. We don’t deserve it. I would have loved it, but you can’t lose by 30 to a mediocre team and be as inconsistent as we were and expect to be top 4. Hell, the B1G champ game was our season in a microcosm. Drive killing penalties, some struggles in the red zone, inability... terrible play-calling when trying to run the ball (if you watch the games we ran the ball well, it looked completely different than the crap we tried in Indy), giving up big plays, poor pass defense, letting less talented teams hang around... if OSU had played a cleaner game and limited the big play and playing just decent defense, the final score is probably closer to 60+ to 14-17. Instead, it was a ball game in the third after 2 quick scores by NW and 2 bad drives by OSU. If not for Haskins, NW wins that game. 3rd and 20 and he drops a DIME for a TD? Find another QB that’s making that throw and I’ll show you a Heisman finalist... so sad his talent will have been wasted by a horrible defense (outside of Sheffield, I believe the entire LB Corp and DBs are all 3* recruits, compare that to the era of first/second round DBs/LBs we had the previously 4 years) and stubborn coaches that refuse to consistently use a running scheme that works. Can't happen soon enough. I can't argue that OSU is as good if not better than Notre Dame and Oklahoma. I can argue that because of two losses and not being a champion, Georgia loses out compared to teams with one loss and a Conference Championship. What I can't argue is that a team that loses by 29 points to a .500 team, when no other potential playoff team has had a similar loss, that such a loss can be overcome in the playoff argument.
I've been in several discussions as to whether the Playoff Committee's choices are right or wrong. My view is that since the current system is based on a subjective conclusion by the committee, whatever they pick is the right answer since the only binding criteria is their opinion. It's like giving your son the choice of what ice cream flavor he wants at his birthday party. It doesn't matter what everyone else thinks is the best flavor or what should be served, the only flavor that counts is the one he wants.
I hope you two continue to visit here. I enjoy your thoughts. As an OSU fan, we don’t belong in a playoff. We don’t deserve it. Having said that, this year is exactly why the field SHOULDNT expand to 8. Both semifinal games have the lower seed as double digit underdogs. This would have been a year we could have been content with the BCS. There is Bama and Clemson, and then everybody else. This ND team reminds me so much of the one that got curbstomped by Bama in the title game. Good defense, decent offense, really weak schedule that included 1 score wins over Ball State, Pitt, USC, and Vanderbilt. If it were up to me, ND would be behind OU, UGA, and OSU.

Exactly lol that was my point. We struggled with that all year and again last week. It’s a huge reason we didn’t deserve to be in the playoff. It would have taken that type of performance to convince the committee we were a complete team, but we aren’t, and that’s ok. 12-1, B1G champs, and likely Rose Bowl champs is ok with me. That use to be every B1G teams goal. Win the conference, win the Rose Bowl. Anything else is gravy. You never would have scored 60 against NU because you couldn't play a cleaner game (120-something in penalties) and don't play wonderful defense.
Sure why not have 18 to 21 year old kids play 16, 17, 18 games. Oh forgot they get paid millions. They don't? Really?yeah, to hell with the other 121 teams in FBS wanting something to play for!
