I didn't understand the strategy of not starting Scaife in the second half.Rutgers best shooter needs to be out on the court .In the end simply not enough offense .Parker was impressive hitting 3 pointers for Rutgers.Very tough loss, but the girls played with heart. That 9-0 run by OS coming out of halftime was a killer. Again, we missed a lot of chippies, but OS is the real deal. They are a very talented team and hit their open shots. We're close but we're not getting enough scoring from our bigs. Onward and upward.
I agree. I was wondering that too. I thought she was shaken up, but the commentators never said anything. After OS quickly went up by 6, I thought Stringer would call TO and we'd see what's wrong with Tyler. Maybe the press will ask her why Tyler wasn't out there to start the second half.I didn't understand the strategy of not starting Scaife in the second half.Rutgers best shooter needs to be out on the court .In the end simply not enough offense .Parker was impressive hitting 3 pointers for Rutgers.
Same issue as the last 4 years.......we can't put the ball in the hoop on a consistent basis. D steps up but no ODidn't see final stats, yet. We're turnovers or fouls an issue?
EVERY 2nd half instead of taking charge we fall apart...moral victories..thats for our opponents,...i'm just not saying no more...time to move on like when TSG was spending too much time on the golf course...if i didn't love CVS I'd say more...she did us good until recent yrs...i wish her well and hope her mom is doing better..Outscored 24-7 in the 3rd ... 54-37 end of 3rd
I have been saying for the past few years that a major reason for our decline is the fact we don't have or recruit the tough Jersey/ NY kids with that toughness and swagger like Matee, Essence and Kia had. Nuff said.
On the TV broadcast today the announcers mentioned that her mom is in hospice care. :-(EVERY 2nd half instead of taking charge we fall apart...moral victories..thats for our opponents,...i'm just not saying no more...time to move on like when TSG was spending too much time on the golf course...if i didn't love CVS I'd say more...she did us good until recent yrs...i wish her well and hope her mom is doing better..
The quotes are telling and disappointing because the head coach admits a pattern of performance in the second half needs correcting but there were no solutions cited. The status quo is not acceptable if Rutgers expects a NCAA bid.For you lazy ones here are the quotes from CVS which are very telling.
"We always do that, a frustrated CVS said. We just like to make sure that everybody knows we can play in the first two quarters and then WE FALL APART. Nothing changed. We feel pressure and we MENTALLY STRAIN."
When OSU creamed us in the 3rd quarter, CVS said " I'll take responsibility for that. I should've kept them in a zone. We're not a man-to-man team, I switched it and it was not a good idea. ( You could see that by how easily they blew by us for layups)
"It scares me to think about the third quarter and forth quarter. I don't know what to do about it. Maybe we'll just pretend it's the first quarter and second quarter and play it that way. That's the same thing that happened in five games we lost. History repeats itself."
We're still trying to find our identity. We are still trying to find our confidence. We're still trying to find what it is we do well and we can count on game in and game out that we can expect a certain level of performance. We don't have it yet."

this has been a tough year for us boomers regarding the health of our elderly folks who are left and even some of us......this is when having a good team brings us solace and/or a bit of distraction from reality....On the TV broadcast today the announcers mentioned that her mom is in hospice care. :-(
I've resisted commenting, but I have to say this. And I'm not picking on you, I suppose we all do it, but my reaction to reading your post was "This is news?" or "How's that for stating the obvious?". You have actually made a post that I dare anyone on the board to disagree with. I just haven't and in general don't see "the point" in posting the obvious.Look, if she is working on it, for 5 games that we lost, there certainly has been no solution and it does not seem that one is on the horizon. We are a 12-8 team and 3-5 in our conference. With a heavily upper class laden team, those results are clearly disappointing. I had expectations that Coper, Scaife and Holivay would be improved over last year and be somewhat dominant. I think it is fair to say they are missing a lot of layups and often in foul trouble. If we don't find solutions soon we are in danger of missing the big dance.

UConn's coaching lineage has not been particularly successful. Believe me, I read the UConn board quite a bit and I assure you that they are painfully aware of it. I have at times thought well of Cardoza and Jen R., but they are not demonstrating that they "have it".I think being in the Big Ten and in the NYC metro area, despite the facilities deficit, many good choices will be available. My favorites are still the current coaches at Michigan, Princeton, St Johns and George Washington. UConn coaching lineage includes current coaches at Hartford, Temple and Cincinnati. (If you like that system.) I would look at a philosophy of ball that people want to watch, not just a big name.
