Fox is one of the best defenders in all of college. Drugs are bad . Monk is good but streaky on D. Willis is much much better then WG on D and HUmp is great in half court D but too slow for full court D.

When we go into a half court offense and do not shoot the first open shot we usually turn it over/ take a bad shot/ or have a rushed shot.
An open shot is usually the best shot.
At halftime Cal said he wants us to drive more to the basket and draw fouls. That is the tactic we used against UCLA. Fox had a possession where he did drive the baseline and got a held ball called.
What Cal wants and in order to succeed determines if the refs calls the game fairly. If they want to keep it close they will whistle us to death like you saw in the first half.

Cats have to wake up in the second half. Can't rely on Monk too shoot like that in the second half. Briscoe needs to drive more and scorenor create for others, Fox needs to do that same. Big need to box out and everyone needs to run the floor on defense. When the shot goes up you either crash the boards or run back, don't watch to see if the ball goes in or not
I'll take a 5 pt lead at halftime. I know they were missing Meeks but we were missing bam and weynen who had two fouls also

Exactly, when you score as quickly as UK, the other team is going to get that many more possessions .
That's what coaches do. Also you will get more free throws if you drive to the basket over shooting jumpers. I think Cal also said that at half and has said that on his radio show all the time
Monk isn't the only one ballin'. Fox has 11 points and seven assists. Briscoe has five points, six rebounds and three assists.
Our bigs don't rotate well enough to win a championship. Hopefully that will get corrected over the next couple of months. Too slow to rotate and don't box out.
We've dominated this game offensively and are up 5. Unless monk continues his hot streak we will lose this game unless someone else steps up. It's that simple.

40 pts a game? Hell, 40 pts a half would be an improvement. We keep giving those kinds of looks and reaching on d, it's going to be a long road. They shot over 50%, same thing that burned our toast against UCLA.
Well, man..there's some games and will be at least one game in the Tournament that we're not going to score 50 points or even 45 at the half..can't be giving up 50+ in one half in that game/those games. Our offense though has been amazing all season. The defense has been the opposite though for the majority of the season. I don't know how we're top 10 on defense..we gave 97 to UCLA, 72 to Hofstra, 76 to UT Martin, 70 to Cleveland St., etc. If we're top 10 on defense, that's good though..it must mean there's a bunch of teams with bad defense.
A few observations.
Their rebounding edge is showing. We need to quit going for blocks and get bodies on their secondary bigs after Meeks.
We have nobody that can guard Jackson.
Fix those 2 things and UK should win.

Everytime Fox or Briscoe drove to the basket they got hammered with No Call,gets pretty frustrating
