You come out with no fight against a hungry team like that you’re going to get punched in the mouth. Glad our team gets to know this feeling early when it really doesn’t matter.

Terrible, inexcusable loss. But I still like my team.

I didn't think I would see this group, after the MSU game, play games with the "I'm getting mine" mentality. Tonight was one of those nights where kids stood and watched others, then didn't even go after loose balls. The guy who brought it down, took it to the rack.... and 4 other guys stood and watched.

Miserable week but the basketball Cats will be heard from again in the end. Not sure about the football Cats but I would hope 2 more wins at least.

Can't make a layup, can't score from outside, can't make free throws, and can't stop the other team from doing all of that. What does that equal? A loss of a number one ranking and no national championship. I know it's early, but this team just doesn't look like they have what it takes. They don't deserve to wear KENTUCKY on their chests. They obviously don't realize what being given that honor means.

all true, but we didn’t run any offense either. Cal should’ve put Hagans on the bench and kept him there.

Some questions/thoughts...

1. What exactly was the tweak? How terrible must it have been to lose like this?

2. What happened to Nate? As some of you guys noted, he was abused as a defender.

3. Too many guys picked this game to be bad.

4. UK beat Michigan State exactly one week ago. The number one team in the nation...

5. Cal looked like Stoops coaching this game.

6. I'm gonna go barf.

Edit: 7. Evansville will probably lose to Bob State within the next two weeks. *face palm*

Anyone have anything to add?

Props to Evansville. This is so ridiculously huge for them. They played hard, went into Rupp with no fear and just played ball. Congrats to them.

On the flip side, it's a really bad loss for UK, Cal and our fan base. Things will be different in the post season, but this puts a major damper on the season for weeks. Its unfortunate (for whatever reason) that UK wasn't focused, playing well, etc. The only way this could be worse is if don't learn from it.

Down by 5 with 1:20 to go, UK chose to go to Richards for a 10 ft jump hook.

Lack of hustle killed UK tonight. No excuse in being out-rebounded on the offensive glass...especially in the last five minutes.

Yes, yes it is. We sucked that season.

That is a hot take man. I'm not saying this isn't a bad loss but it isn't nearly as bad as Gardner Webb...at least not today.

#1 we don't know what Evansville will do this year. As bad as we sucked tonight they played good and could be decent.

#2 Gardner Webb was 16-16 that year and they beat us by 16 at Rupp...I was at that game it was an *** beating from start to finish...completely beat the crap out of us.

#3 We all know we will rebound to some degree. John Wall beat Miami Ohio on a buzzer beater in 2009, so this happens to good teams, especially young one's....wasn't a good night. BCG was a train wreck and that was the impact...it was like the realization of complete and utter failure forthcoming.

After this, I'm thinking it's possible we could see 10 losses AGAIN this year.
We don't have a DUDE that can take over the game, we go through stretches where we forget how to shoot and our front court just got seriously exposes for what it is, which is under par.
That MSU game was fools gold.

This team didn’t seem like one that would get out hustled after the first two games. They were all saying the right things about being ranked # 1, but it was obviously just talk. They played like entitled, selfish players tonight looking to be the hero. It’s a terrible loss, but hopefully it gets their attention. The coaching staff wasn’t any better. Hagans should’ve been benched, but not a single played well, so we’ve got that going for us. Overall, an entire team fail. That’s all you can say.

This is what happens when you play a style that requires you to have the best players and continuously strikeout on them. I sometimes have no idea why Cal brings in some of the guys he does. It's like he looks at the recruiting rankings and just goes after the top 5 star until he misses and then just goes down the list regardless of basketball ability.

Maxey is the only freshman that probably shouldn't ride the bench here right now. Can we not recruit basketball players very often and instead mainly only go after athletes? How many years do we have to have horrible shooting under Cal? I thought we weren't going to recruit guys who couldn't shoot anymore. At least we have athletes that can sometimes make a dunk.

Vent over

It's time to make some changes to the staff and switch some stuff up there is no way the #1 team in the nation should've lost to a team that was picked to finish 8th in their own conference!

Evansville shot better from the floor, won the rebounding battle, had more assists. OMG Twitter is going crazy right now!!

I'm just sick. You've gotta wonder how this team will react to this loss.

62 points at home against Evansville. A third of them from the free throw line. Cal will never implement any type of offensive system and that's why he'll never win another title.
I love cal but this is right. He tries to prepare them for pro ball instead of preparing them for college ball. They require completely different games to be successful. Sure, the random offense works in the pros with more spacing and other pros around you, but time and time again we get beat by teams that run actual offensive sets. He won’t win another title with this kind of offense and the dip in recruiting.
