Sorry if this was already in another thread....
So from the sounds of it- they’re running a robust drive thru training table during shutdown. That’s a bonus.
But coaches, S&C or any other staff are not allowed to conduct or supervise any voluntary workouts,
and players are not allowed to even report the voluntary activities they are doing.
Public gyms are closed, and I’m sure many players have limited workout equipment available to them.
Sounds like players are totally on their own communicating with each other to figure out how to best keep their bodies in shape.
This is where leadership is key. I’m sure Damian Jackson, Chris Walker, Ben Stille etc will be the sub-S&C guys. (side note: this is where a Chris/Damian types can contribute greatly even if not seeing playing time).
But are they going to be able to rally the whole team behind them? Many positions/individuals have different needs, etc.
Hopefully, most guys can access enough equipment to do the best they can.
A lot can be done with minimal equipment, but it’s key that the players are organizing themselves and making sure everyone is staying on task.
Without that, the results of a long poorly coordinated hiatus could be brutal.
Guys need to push themselves to the vomit threshold as if Duval was in their ear every step of the way.
NCAA really should allow S&C staff at a minimum to work with players remotely and help coordinate plans. This is almost a player safety issue in my opinion. Let’s hope they figure that out.
