Sorry if this was already in another thread....
So from the sounds of it- they’re running a robust drive thru training table during shutdown. That’s a bonus.

But coaches, S&C or any other staff are not allowed to conduct or supervise any voluntary workouts,
and players are not allowed to even report the voluntary activities they are doing.
Public gyms are closed, and I’m sure many players have limited workout equipment available to them.
Sounds like players are totally on their own communicating with each other to figure out how to best keep their bodies in shape.
This is where leadership is key. I’m sure Damian Jackson, Chris Walker, Ben Stille etc will be the sub-S&C guys. (side note: this is where a Chris/Damian types can contribute greatly even if not seeing playing time).
But are they going to be able to rally the whole team behind them? Many positions/individuals have different needs, etc.
Hopefully, most guys can access enough equipment to do the best they can.
A lot can be done with minimal equipment, but it’s key that the players are organizing themselves and making sure everyone is staying on task.
Without that, the results of a long poorly coordinated hiatus could be brutal.
Guys need to push themselves to the vomit threshold as if Duval was in their ear every step of the way.

NCAA really should allow S&C staff at a minimum to work with players remotely and help coordinate plans. This is almost a player safety issue in my opinion. Let’s hope they figure that out.

A lot of the team isn't even on campus from what I understand. Most of these guys have high school teammates, coaches, handlers, etc. that probably have access to training tools. Hopefully they are doing better than I am at staying in shape.

Yah I would imagine it's mostly unorganized.

Agree this becomes a player safety issue the longer it drags on. Various coaches seemed to think we'd need about a month S&C and a camp to get ready but that's probably still pushing it. Lincoln Riley said 15-20 practices and they'd be ready.Which is an even lighter load.

Either way it's going to be a more of a strain on players than usual if they play in 2020. It'll either be a rushed season or pushed back to spring which will butt them up against the 21 season

I just don’t see a 12 game schedule in the spring of 2021..
If they have to wait till the end of September and have a shorter season so be it.Just play conference games then.

IF we have a season, we could potentially see more injuries than normal. Reduced S&C, fewer practices, etc could all contribute.

I never wrestled a real heifer so I don't know how good of a workout it is. I maybe wrestled one or two that I wouldn't have wrestled sober though.

So is Nebraska's weight room closed and locked? Or are we sorta on a basis of "Hey you guys we can't require you to be here and we can't show up an coach you. But uh...when it's back on your spot is up for grabs. So we can't tell you that you have to go lift weights but it's open and you know what to do."

I can see where a lot of these programs have a major incentive to be trying to just keep it quiet that they still have guys in there lifting pretty much like normal. But I don't know that it's really possible to keep that quiet in this era.

My understanding is the facility would be closed now. So players have to find their own resources to access.

I agree with Suhrreal that many players may have some reasonable access to decent enough equipment, but across the board how many guys may slip through the cracks?

I could put you on the end of a rope halter of an unbroken 800 pound Simmental heifer if you want to try it. It's a good workout.

No they've been locked out since this started. Campus is closed now for all except those who have letters requiring them to be there for like facilities engineer and whatever.

My feeling is alot. It's been some weeks now but I thought I read a 247 article where Frost was just trying to figure out how many of his guys have access to any sort of equipment because he didn't want the winter gains going away. The vibe of that article seemed to be not many would have D1 level type of fitness access.

I assume a decent number of guys have some weights but you probably have a good number more limited to body weight and cardio type of stuff depending on what their sheltering situation is.

Move all of the weight equipment in to the indoor practice facility with at least 12 feet between each station. Test and then quarantine the players to a single dorm across from the facility and let it rip. If we're providing training table meals anyway to some we might as well have all of them on campus in a lockdown situation with nothing to do but lift weights. Pretty simple potential solution and I would bet that the vast majority of players would love to be on campus right now working out.

But not every college could do this. How many players are even still in Lincoln? I am going to venture very few.

Yah I don't there's any shortage of logistical aerobics that could potentially fit the bill. There's just no will at the university or governor level to do it right now. Maybe soon.

That might be how they have to conduct summer workouts for all we know.

Right the NCAA put a universal kibosh down even though there's schools like Wyoming or whoever that have low risk and could carry out spring activities.

With as tit for tat as coaches are I actually don't think they'd want it any other way. Florida is not going to want Saban to get all his work in because Bama has a better covid situation or whatever. The big boys would cry foul.

Hell we were crying foul when they cancelled spring ball and other teams had a handful of practices at that point.

Saban as always on the cutting edge with conditioning and nutrition. Apple watches.
