You think we didn't know that? The Nuke problem became broken over the past 3 administrations. Getting them to slow down the ICBM program, and bringing them out of the cold is best for us right now.
Exactly
This is what irks me about this situation. Trump and loyalists acting like prior administrations had no clue how to handle the NK problem, and suddenly with all his wisdom and his musical cabinet of advisors Trump gets it right no problem. Maybe some think it’s a global conspiracy thing happening, and Trump not dwelling in the swamp will end it quickly, or maybe they think Trump and his yes men are really THAT more intelligent than the ones tasked with dealing with this before?Trump's dumb tweets having nothing to do with the reality of dealing with the NK threat. And what exactly is the threat? Them detonating a bomb in their own country, or being able to launch one and hit DC? Them having a bomb in a hanger in country, or selling one to a radical group like ISIS and it winding up in the ME? We allowed them to develop the bomb. We've allowed them to work on an ICBM program. We've isolated them as much as we can. At some point we've got to wake up to the reality of the situation.
And another thing that irks me about Trump loyalists is dismissing “Trumps dumb tweets” as if it’s something less than a statement from the fvcking President of the United States of America! JFC, grow up Mr President, and learn some professionalism, life isn’t a campaign rally.Trump's dumb tweets having nothing to do with the reality of dealing with the NK threat. Any way, reality is that it isn’t as easy of a problem as most think. I don’t think singing their nation’s lunatic leaders praises to the world was a good thing to do. They need a regime change, and we should be doing whatever we can to enable that to happen from the inside.

Lets us know when Trump gives 150 billions to a outlaw regime and sucks a big muslim dick! This is what irks me about this situation. Well said. I can agree with that.Take Trump out of the equation. We need a change in approach to NK, because what's been done in the past hasn't worked at all. China still supports them. They still have developed Nuclear Weapons and are on path to develop ICBM's. Now my fear with them isn't a Red Dawn Remake invasion of the US, but them selling a warhead to a terrorist group, or doing something stupid like launching an ICBM. So at some point the game plan needs to change, and now's the time.
I'm not a Trump loyalist, but I dismiss his tweets because I recognize who he is, who he's always been, and I recognize that that is never going to change and until someone comes along that can actually beat him, we're stuck with him for now. Bitching about his tweets.... pointless exercise.
I don’t have that level security clearanceLets us know when Trump gives 150 billions to a outlaw regime and sucks a big muslim dick!

I’m disappointed that NK continues to be the crazy fvcker at the party that could get us all busted at anytime, especially when they could just shut their mouth, drink, and try to get laid like the rest of us. But I’m not surprised, and I wish all of the loyalists that used this as an example of Trump’s greatness would realize how ridiculous the Trump glorification has gotten.
The first missile over Japan should result in one dropping on he North Korea capitol. Warn them NOW and then do it without further discussion, period. This script is the one they seem to go to every time discussions begin. Time to tear it up and insist on a more amiable procedure. Otherwise, suffer real negative consequences. Make it certain to China (and Russia) that this is the USA playbook and will not be altered. Start moving the fleet that was there before back into positions off the N K coast.
And......what works then?Regime change has worked for us exactly never.
Do you have a twitch? I’m genuinely interestedWe should all aspire to see Socialism duplicated in America as it has been so well demonstrated in N. Korea and it's operating twin that tropical paradise known as Venezuela. Imagine the possibilities for our homeland if only we would just sign up with AOC's agenda, or Bernie's leadership?
Oooh ooooh I finally get to use this, and in a way not just mocking you morons.Regime change has worked for us exactly never.

Where's the money? We know who gave the money and you do too.

Nazis.
sure, like letting those illegals into the country. Especially from third world countries/Some things are worth more than money.

Actually boomer, I'm very seriously considering voting Socialist for the first time in my Life...just for the "fun" of it! It's like all of us Mountaineer fans need to spend at least one afternoon at Heinz for a Pitt game cheering them on, just once just to see what pure Hell that can be? [winking]
Which candidate is the socialist one?
Which candidate is the socialist one?
Nicely written and thoughtful. Hard to not agree with all the factual statements. There isnt a solution to it.
War is going to cost millions of lives - millions. It us going to kill tens of thousands of American troops. We arent just going in to fight some ragtag group with 30 year old weaponry, we'd be fighting a shadow war with China. It is, just as Bannon said, not an option.
Trying some clandestine operation to cause an uprising within NK isnt going to work either. The people with enough power to cause anything like that are happy. They ride around in Maybachs and eat lobster. The military is fiercely loyal, to the point they will shoot their friends for just trying to run away. The people there, while starving, worship him as a god and believe Americans will come and eat their children. Even if us succeeded we would have a power vacuum and loose nukes, wonderful.
What we need to do is understand that Kim is not a madman. He is actually a rational actor. His goal is to remain in power of NK. Selling or using nuclear weapons doesnt accomplish that goal, but having them absolutely does. They are a deterrent from anyone attacking him and we all know it. The one time he would use them would be as a last resort in the face of an immediate and existential threat to his reign.
The best we can hope for is to maintain the status quo. He stays there and causes noise from time to time. We sit to the south and watch him. Boeing, Lockheed, and Northrop Grumman make a fortune.
Our options are to keep sanctions up and try to slowly bleed him to death, but you end up with a desperate man in control of nuclear weapons. Not great. The other is to just let them be and ignore them. Dont reward what they did, but accept that they have nukes and Kim is in charge.
I'm much more worried about the bombs sitting in Pakistan than the ones in NK.
