No it doesn't. They shouldn't have even been in that game. The only reason they were was more cheating and political conniving by extending out the penalty by ammending the notice so as to delay things for this season. Pure horseshit.

The NCAA saying they are changing rules is just another element of creating the false narrative that they can't punish UNC. It is all a scam and needs to be destroyed utterly. Every day the NCAA is in business as a governing body is an insult to sport, higher education, and anyone with even the slightest trace of honor.
I'd advise everyone to wait a few days and see how this shakes out. I'll admit it looks like a complete NCAA whitewash, but at some point someone will make the NCAA account for how there could be charges of impermissible benefits and lack of institutional control that included basketball that just vanished. And until they do, there is such a logical disconnect in this that there is a chance we are missing something.
I'm not just talking about academics specifically. UNC showed that you just have to find something not covered in the rule book and exploit the living crap out of it.

The NCAA will have to account at some point. that will be to God at the end of time. So I am not all that happy about the wait. Going to calm down now.
I think the other 4 Power 5 conferences should announce they will no longer schedule any schools from the ACC in any sport.
One step futher, I think the power conferences should announce they no longer have confidence in the NCAA as a governing body and throw them out on their asses.

The Duke fans here won't like this, but if they were in the same position as UNCheat, they would get away with it too. Obviously, from what we know, UNCheat is way, way worse than basically any other school, BUT Duke did get away with the Lance Thomas fiasco. The Maggette one is sort of in the gray area, but the Thomas case is not. It was a clear case of impermissable benefits, in which Duke made no attempt to cooperate, and to call the NCAA's "investigation" half-assed would be a huge understatement. The rules do not apply to Tobacco Road schools, pure and simple. Well, they probably would to NCState I guess.

If they skate, and ESPN doesn't frame it as a cover-up, then they are just as bad the NCAA. Given their almost complete silence so far, I think that's looking likely.

My one idea is to have Cal / UK get in bed with Disney .... I dont care if we get the short end of the $$ straw and its also called Minnie Mouse arena ....and Goofy Stadium..... Disney and ESPN would have that interest into throwing money around in favor of UK..... Much easier said than done though ....

Love DeCourcy but that is a crock to put it mildly.
Some school needs to hire the best lawyers and go over the regs with a fine tooth comb looking for any and all loopholes, and just exploit the hell out of them and laugh in the NCAA's face. Oh wait, one already has.
Sounds great, but those power conferences are making so much money why rock the boat? Even after a school is hit with sanctions they rebound so quickly they just keep it moving.
And nobody is listening to the smaller conferences.
Why? The proper action would be to get numerous people from all fan bases to tell the NCAA we wont accept that level of favortism.

They could make a 64 team tournament out of major conference schools.. after adding some to each conference .... and then suddenly it goes from being half of the major conference teams to all of them.... I'm not a math-a-magician but thats double the money by taking mid majors out.
If UNCheat bb is skating they would be in the final game delay or not. Not winning a title is poetic justice.
They would never do it, but I would laugh my *** off if every one of their opponents next season would show the buzzer shot in the pre-game video.
I think the offensive part is that UNC didnt get stabbed for its cheating.
I've seriously doubted much would come of this all along. Why? Because the NCAA never...repeat NEVER intended to hammer its beloved Tar Hole program. UNC and Dook are untouchable as far as the NCAA is concerned. Either could (and obviously have) gotten away with anything they wanted to do. The fix was in on all this well before the first story appeared anywhere.
Having said all that, I'll now say this. The NCAA has sold itself out and the result is an organization that has ZERO respect from its member institutions. Unless your university says UNC or Dook on the sign out front, what possible confidence would you have in getting a break or even fair treatment? The NCAA has clearly now said that there will never be anything like a standard or criteria on which to base any future sanctions.
