I didn't see anything bizarre about that press conference...unlike Flood, he sounds like a man in control and loyal to his head coach.

Heard it live on the radio. I loved the way he handled himself and the room... like he has a pair. The punk-*** reporters are not used to people demanding respect. One kid called KF "Flood", and Coach Wilson promptly told him to refer to KF as Coach Flood. NW also gave some answers that I felt were more honest and direct than the usual coach speak we get, as if he demands accountability not only from himself, but from the players as well.

found no issue with the presser. he just did what his boss told him to. no more no less. his honesty actually translates to what i suspected. Flood handcuffed them. he probably had the authority to pull Laviano, but he didn't. i bet the only condition he was given was when he was hurt and cannot really play. no matter how bad he plays just keep playing him. in fact, he said he has to see the film. ?? were you not watching the game? how the heck would you exercise your authority if you are not watching the game? well, maybe because his authority didn't involve or his decision making was not based on Laviano's performance.

I watched the first few minutes, I see nothing wrong. Typical media. So he's asking them to identify themselves, so what. It's not like he's been the HC and has interacted with them to know everyone.

Forget about sports press conferences, I've seen plenty of times the head PR person ask reporters to identify themselves and their organization before asking a question to the main interviewee, big deal.

The media wants to remain anonymous when they ask their hack job questions.

There was nothing bizarre but there was also little in the way of information or insight. Do you really think there was no impact to the teams preparation with what went on there this week? He towed the company line and provided little of his own view on anything during the 3 plus minutes I watched. Again not bizarre but not worth watching either.

I guess after that game, watching the interim coach stonewall the press looking for a story is the highlight for some. I am not fond of the coverage we get sometimes but we made this bed and now need to sleep in it for a while.

Frankly, that was refreshing and no-nonsense. Sure, it wasn't particularly insightful but he gave straight answers and didn't dance around any questions. That might be the best I've ever seen a Rutgers representative handle a press conference, which admittedly isn't a high bar.

Nothing bizarre about it, just the media looking to drum up a story where none exists. Boo hoo, he didn't glad hand them.

That was bizarre?

Only thing bizarre were questions like "how was the day?"

He gave direct answers to the questions asked. "Did you consider going for it?" "Yes." Ask a yes/no question, get a yes/no answer.

The National perception will determine if this was "Bizarre" or not. We are influenced by the love of all things RU! Maybe the definition of Bizarre is the real culprit here. When I think of "Bizarre" I think of Superman's Bizarro world,
probably not the same thing as the definition used to explain the Press Conference, but it's MY Bizarre.

Not only was it not bizarre, I think it's a template for how Flood should handle pressers. Honest, direct, succinct, and not answering more than what was asked.

I liked the presser. I thought he handled himself well and was direct with his answers. I loved when he demanded one of the pencil-neck geeks call Flood, Coach Flood. It is open season on us and the press just loves shooting. It might have been run differently but he is the interim coach so he has the right to run it however he wants. After a difficult loss, I liked that he clearly was running the press conference and didn't feel he needed to pander to anyone. He's the boss on game day for two more games. He is an INTERIM coach so if the media doesn't like him(who do they LIKE?) then after two more games they will be finished dealing with him. Don't blame the media? The media covering Rutgers clearly have an attitude, bias and agenda. I've long been finished with them. I'll read Luicci.

I think the "What's your name, what's your sign" bit is refreshing. It's a throw back to an era where people treat people with respect. You stand up, identify yourself and your employer and ask your question. So long as he answers with respect (which he most certainly did) I have no problem with him demanding a respectful exchange.

As I said, I find it refreshing.

ETA: He also set a tone of him controlling the room. He's not gonna sit there and get bamboozled by a blood lusting press.

Wonder what it would be like if he ran the show? Seems like a guy who you can laugh with, but will take you to the woodshed if you step out of line.

Imagine him, fridge and 'Gary' running the show? Not sure if we would win, but it would be something to see! We would also need 3 ambulances on standby - one each for Norries and Fridge and the 3rd for the EMTs to ride in.

Yeah and Fridge could have wet T shirt contests...

Didn't like his answer about RU not living up to Ped as a rival--we certainly should've won last year, but otherwise a decent presser. Throw last night's game out. We're missing too many key players due to the injuries and suspensions/dismissals and are very young at some other key positions (QB, center, secondary). I also felt it was obvious that Ped played with a ton more energy than us...have to think all the off-field turmoil took a real toll on our team psyche.

We're not PSU's rival. Let's get real.

Ignore that stuff. It's so far down our priority list, it's not even funny.

Rivalries are not one sided--either in results or in the minds of the stakeholders of each program. We all have PSU people i our lives. None of them consider RU to be a PSU football rival. NONE.

RU should've won last year--I know, I know, shoulda, woulda, coulda...Still the coach shouldn't so quickly discount where we are at this point in battling ttfp, forget about the pre-B1G years. He needed a better answer there. Otherwise, again, I have no problems with his press conference. In fact he stepped-up and admitted the coaching staff blew it on the 75 yrd untouched TD run by Lynch to cap the 1st half and really seal the game.

Why should he lie?

Again, rivalries aren't one sided. Even if we discount pre B10 games, the people that surround the PSU program don't view us as a rival. It can't be a rivalry just cause we say so.

Stop caring about what they think--a coach needs to make a statement that is for the good of his program. We don't want a coach here that doesn't consider Ped a rival now.

Actually its the opposite. They had just beaten us, badly, so I prefer our coach not acknowledging it as a rivalry. He said we need to be better, which is 100% correct. Saying its a rivalry right there just concedes that not only were we beat badly, but that this game also mattered more to us.

Interesting opinion, I still think he could've answered that question more effectively.
