He changed his mind because Barbee left and Barbee was his guy. It’s that simple. The fan base has absolutely nothing to do with it.

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to see UK is still recruiting point guards. But personally I think it has more to do with Barbee being shown the door.

Damn, the state of the program right now is just a joke. This **** needs to stop.
I would settle for 1-2 of those guys at this point. I do feel like this may be an indicator something is in the works, but the Barbee connection is concerning. If there’s nothing else lined up or worked out UK is screwed next year.
It doesn’t matter if he was needed or not. The kid didn’t want to come here so whether he was needed or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is who Cal is going to get to be the point guard next year, which in my opinion is the biggest issue he is facing on the roster.
i like Millers game but dont wanna rely on him making a fluid transition to point. Would rather have a pure point like Wheeler even if he sucks at shooting IF we can surround him with shooters like CJ/Allen/Grady/Mintz. Sucks we lose hickman in the process tho

The idea recruits read this board and make any type of decision as to whether to attend UK or de commit is absurd and, honestly, I think only espoused by those over 65. These kids are the most media and tech savvy in history—that a couple douchers on a message board could deter them in any way is silly.
I'm hearing it's strictly related to Barbee leaving. Nothing to do with any other potential recruits.
And any player that is too fragile to handle reading anonymous message board musings is not cut out for major college basketball anyway.

I really believe Cal and the staff have someone coming in at PG that Hickman got wind of and maybe did not think he would play that much. Who knows just a guess.
I'm not insinuating tampering. I don't think it's that. Just saying none of it all seems to make any sense. There is missing info....as to what that info is it's anyone's guess until something leaks. Maybe that info is so and so is coming. But even if that's it, does competition scare someone that much???
Regardless it all sucks right now.
Hickman can play ANYWHERE. Dook, Gonzaga, Baylor, UCLA, etc. If he’d follow Barbee to a mid major, Barbee must have super powers and a Swiss bank account.

I just saw this crap. I was really looking forward to Hickman, dam it! I thought we were supposed to get all kinds of good news starting last week and all that has happened is the loss of TC, more speculation that O is coming and now we lost our only dam PG. So now we are down to 7 players. Please God don't let the replacement for Hickman be Wheeler or I'm going to lose my mind. We now need 2 stud PGs. 2 more good PGs come off the board tomorrow. Miller and the kid from the Sun Belt who we aren't even involved with. If we don't land Miller this is going to start to get scary.
It's time for Mintz and Brooks to make it official either way. Neither is going to the NBA so let's go. I assume Brooks is coming back, if not WTF? I wish either way we would go get Mitchel from Umass after not even trying for Disua and Timmy Allen, 2 players better than Brooks.
We have 7 guys and zero PGs. Wheeler, Brooks, and Fredrick to get us to 10 ain't gonna do it. As far as Wheeler goes I just read an article yesterday about how it is hard now in college BB to have 2 guys on the floor at the same time who can't shoot. We don't need one of them being our dam PG. We need some star power and a top PG and a really good 2nd PG now. I really hope Cal drops some good news on Derby day like in the past. If Washington was coming I doubt Hickman would have left they are friends and Hickman was recruiting him to UK.

The young man and his family decided they weren't coming to UK to ride the pine. UK is the land of 5 stars and transfers. If you are not either, you will get little to know respect at UK.
The new article on KSR his dad said he has been planning this since the coaching staff changes rumors.He put off the announcement after TC died out of respect.
