Do we have a basic lack of understanding as to what the word "commitment" actually means in this country any more? That goes not only for Mr. Hickman, but for our country as a whole, where a commitment is only good until the next election. If people can't take you at your word, then you are useless in my book.

"Individual commitment to a group effort, that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work." - Vince Lombardi

I would have loved to have had him come to UK. He will be a good player. But he wasn’t the full time answer next year at point guard. Even if he was still coming to UK, the point guard position still needed an immediate difference maker.
Yeah, I know all these kids that have stars next to their name think they are great, but they don’t understand how hard it is to compete at this level, especially at UK and especially at the pg spot.
He was nowhere near good enough to run the show from the jump and if he's leaving because Cal was honest with him about what's going to happen, then he's in for a rude awakening.

Cal’s teams won’t have tremendous success or make a deep run without an elite point guard. It’s really that simple and history reflects that. It’s obvious that is why UK is still searching for the immediate answer for next year’s team.

I wonder if any elite points guards are really left out there.

Yup, a legit pg is the #1 priority in college basketball and especially under Cal. The more experienced, the better.

I think the transfer from Minnesota could possibly fit the need. I think TyTy will be good but I’m not sure he can come in from day one and be the man. To be brutally honest, the list isn’t that big and Cal has his work cut out for him the next few weeks finding the answer.

I think it’s even more with Cal. Literally everything is driven through that position on his teams. Everything. If he can secure one for next year, I think it will be a dangerous team. If he doesn’t, it’s going to be ugly because a 19-12 type team ain’t gonna cut it after last year.

I'm starting to think it's the Georgia kid Wheeler.I'm not crazy about him.

Hickman not coming means he didnt truly want to be a part of BBN to begin with, so good luck young fella. Wont really miss ya.

Kids are soft these days. Parents are softer, and push for the easy way for their kids.

This really shouldn't surprise anyone anymore.

Why does it mean we have landed TyTy?

Other than Hickman decommitting has there been other recent sources Etc saying TyTy has committed to Kentucky? Genuinely asking.

Nope. Just trying to figure out why he would decommit. The logical thing to me would be that he felt threatened for whatever reason. I wasn't saying the TyTy thing for certain, just hypothetical

Let’s see. Which phrase or excuse is the reason Hickman moved on?

Torn between, “UK is not for everyone” and “was recruited (transferred) over.”

So many people in this thread stating facts that are not facts. The amount of hand wringing and fortune telling is amazing

Just got home and saw this...WOW. Did Hickman not sign a LOI ? I think he might have found out that Cal has a great PG coming in or maybe 2 that can play the PG position.

Ughhh. It’s almost to the Just match whatever Hardy would get from the G league point. Cal can pay it straight from his salary in cash so there is no papertrail..... we need a win and a stud

I doubt that HIckman bolts unless he knows that someone is coming that he doesn't want to compete with. The easiest guess would be Washington, but at this point the list of possibilities is just getting longer.

My guess though is Wheeler. I don't know why people don't like this guy. He has pretty damn good numbers and having a triple double under his belt is fairly impressive even if he does play at Georgia.

How exactly would Hickman know that we have a great point guard coming in?
He'd know personnel they are recruiting/bringing in. Coaches openly talk with recruits and if he had doubts on his role, can come to a conclusion. Controlling narratives works with coaching changes and personnel moves. If it makes someone feel better to have "Dumped" the other, so be it. But if it's mutual and you have others you think will be better, do you care if it appears you were dumped?

0 pgs on the roster. Even if a guy or 2 was in the fold and he heard about it would a little competition really scare him off? There are no points and 2 guards/forwards on the team in allen and grady. Playing time is there.....this just doesn't add up.

Should BBN go all "Iowan" and accuse UW/Wazzu/Gonzaga/Pac 12 etc...of tampering? LOL

Not a shot at you at all jgraf--but just notice how BBN/UK fans are taking this news compared to Iowa's program.
