You guys have to stop railing on the guy.

Saban would have 3 wins at best with this roster.

You see the games, our roster is piss pour. I wouldn't them in the Patriots League for christ sake, let alone go up against Colonial. Delaware, Maine, Towson and James Madison would kick our asses right now.

Try coaching in this mess. Granted it's his fault he didn't being in anyone. But what do you guys want him to say? Let's it go

That freeze frame reminded me of a Monty Python cartoon:

I don’t care if Saban had zero wins, he wouldn’t have his team quit on him.

Blah blah blah. Flood had less talent but didn’t look this incompetent. Stop letting him off the hook. Cole was a preseason, top 100 draft pick. The entire defense are seniors outside of The 7th string corner. Saban wouldn’t let a freshman throw 15 picks in half the season. A decent coach could have won WITH THIS ROSTER. It’s Ash’s fault how bad they are.

80% on kids on field are his recruits. His classes have ranked higher then Indiana and Illini..
Who should we blame..Flood again?

At RU you need to develop players in order to just compete and Ash has developed no one. One thing Schiano did well is developed 2 and 3 star players into future pros. The reason Schiano did not have more wins is because he is a middle of the road game coach. Ash is neither.

Flood didn't have less talent his first year. Not by a long shot.

Its hard to fix a football team. Very hard.

The issue is the blowouts more than anything. Look at the difference in perception between Pikiell and Ash. Pike has not won that many games, and has not been a great recruiter. But where the team has improved is that they play hard, they fight til the end, and even in losing seem to keep their heads up. They have kept the games close, brought better opponents to the wire, and even pulled a few upsets. They play like they believe good days are right around the corner, and so do all the fans.

The odds against Ash getting it done here are long at this point. In some ways, it seems like a perfect storm of off-field issues, injuries, and just plain bad luck, but we keep losing, and we keep losing by wide margins which is really really hard on the fans. With hindsight, the fact that Ash did not hit the ground running - came to RU late, and botched his initial OC - may have doomed him here from the beginning. His style, CEO vs. hands on player coach, may also be hurting him. For whatever reason, he has not found a recipe to make the defense work. They showed some glimpses last year, but they are just getting worn down by offensive ineptitude. This year, by and large has trended worse.

Saban would be recruiting and his Monday thru Friday coaching would be creating a culture of execution and success.

That's the biggest concern. I understand not being able to land the four and five stars, I understand not being able to get players from the prior regime to buy into your system and viewpoint a hundred percent, hell, I even understand that no matter what you will get bad apples in the program like the credit card eight. But the total lack of development we're seeing in the players he inherited and the players he recruited is very, very disturbing.

Pike can point to recruiting. Ash can't.

It's an astounding admission. On the one hand it is brutally honest, for once, but it's also an admission of lack of competence. Peter Principle. You rise to your level of incompetence. At this point in his life, head coach is a job for which Chris Ash is not fit.

"Things that continue to happen to us".

That is a guy who has no control or understanding of what is going on, or more importantly, how to fix it. He believes things happen to you instead of you making them happen. That's a losing mentality in sports.
That is exactly the way I interpreted that as well. He coaches this way as well. Defense is way to reactive and passive vs. proactive and aggressive. I can let some player mistakes go if they are mistakes of aggression but they rarely are. The mistakes on the field are simple lack of understanding and fundamental failure.

Completely agree. Fans and you'd think coaches can live with aggressive mistakes. Ours are passive and mental, and physical. We don't have the horses, and those we do are being misled.

Ash is Eeyore

From Wikipedia:
Eeyore's level of literacy is unclear. When Christopher Robin shows him the letter "A," Eeyore does not understand its meaning, knowing only that "it means learning," something he desperately wants to be seen as having, but he angrily destroys the letter after finding that Rabbit (who is quite literate) knows about it already.
Eeyore has a poor opinion of most of the other animals in the Forest, describing them as having "No brain at all, some of them", "only grey fluff that's blown into their heads by mistake" (from chapter 1 of The House at Pooh Corner)
