...to make a first impression. "Toning it down"? "Say something nice about the opposition"? The only definitive thing I can say about northwestern is that I know nothing about them unless.... unless I allow the measure of the fans that I have been exposed to on here reflect on the institution however unfair that may be. I'm not going to sling mud. You have dirtied yourselves enough. This is your board I saw no welcome mat though you knew you would have visitors. I saw an unleashed pit bull in lieu of a no trespassing sign. Some nare-the-well admitting that he was provoking guests to your board for some sort of sport on his part. There are leash laws because not everyone has the good sense of decorum. You may want to resituate the layers of the onion but I have seen what your outer mask hides within behind your pretensions. You are beneath me.

Dear sir:

So I took the bait.

That was a brilliant and well researched observation for your first post on the NU board. Unfortunately, some of your lower class rabid dogs burned the welcome mat before it was set out.

There are many posts by Northwestern fans on OUR board that are very complimentary to THE TENNESSEE FOOTBALL TEAM. You might try reading this one penned by yours truly:

http://northwestern.forums.rivals.c...pessions-of-tennessee-long-winded-take.16316/

In summary, I would suggest you don't let the door hit you in the *** on your way out.

You had to edit to come up with that crap? Impressive. Go brag about making rape jokes and touching yourself to Peyton like the rest of you mouth breathers.

Been here since the matchup became official. Can't say I agree with your claim of the initial instigator. Still there is the simple fact of your ignore buttons... you seem to hate them more than you claim. You obviously had that option though you rather opted to debase yourselves (you don't really need a button to ignore something. You need a button because you can't ignore something). Inviting me to leave is yet another self-debasement on your part. In summary you have no recourse to flame me without defiling yourself. You won't change my mind about you by doing exactly what I know you can't stop doing.

Do you think it's a sign of fantastic insecurity that people come here and use words they don't understand, or do you think they just do that in life anyway?

Insecure people do not come here. They become insecure once they are here because their communication skills fail them. They don't realize that it is not always their fault. Not everyones communications are forthright and earnest. Even the smartest people always have a blind spot. Most have more than one. What you are doing is projecting. You are trying to label me with your own failing (insecurity) because I challenge your bigotry. Your unjustified resentment of me is obvious.

Ok, I'm done with this. This isn't about football.

What was handle before o great philosopher? There have been some decent Vol posters for sure, but it is self righteous lectures like yours that tarnish the fan base with nonsensical babble. Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and the world laughs harder.

"Self righteous"? All men are righteous in their own eyes... but an honest man who can find? And what makes you think I have misidentified myself? Incidentally that is what is known as a rhetorical question. It calls for no answer; the answer should be evident (you are paranoid).

Oh no! No second chances for us? How ever will we manage to live through another day? I am going to sink into great depression as I and my fellow Cat fans are beneath you.

By the way, genius, if you are going to come on here and try to be as erudite (I'll pause while you look that one up) as possible, your posts damn well better be correct. To wit:

"Ne'er do well" is correct, not "nare-the-well." Ne'er is a contraction for "never." Besides, the phrase would only be hyphenated if it were (subjunctive there, I'll pause again while you look that up) used as a compound adjective, which is not the case in your statement.

One cannot have "the good sense of decorum." As there are multiple types of decorum, the word would require an indefinite rather than a definite article.

"Northwestern" needs to be capitalized (just like "Tennessee"). If you claim that this was a sign of disrespect from you, you need to go back to the writer's aphorism (yep, I'm pausing again) that one must prove he knows how to do something correctly before doing it incorrectly becomes a point of style.

"You may wish to resituate...behind your pretensions"? Oh no, that sentence isn't pretentious at all. The word "resituate" means to put in another place, not to put back. As an additional note, that image you are attempting is so tortured, I expect Amnesty International to descend on the board. That sentence shouldn't make it out of freshman composition.

Finally, you state that you won't sling mud, then you do so.

You, sir, are convinced of your brilliance. You might think you are a brilliant troll or a brilliant person; you are, in fact, zero for two.

I'm a Vol and I would have to say your observation is biased and inaccurate. We are NU guest here and most of us pushed past our host, raided his/her frig grabbed a beer and took their favorite chair.
If you want to make a difference, be different.

Della does not speak VOL dialect. He/she is articulate and measured.

There should not be Vol or Cat dialect, rather a common tongue of two wonderfully different fan bases getting together to discuss the upcoming game of a sport that we share a mutual passion.

You don't have to be like me for me to like you. I would challenge those with a superior wisdom and intelligence to use your gifts for superior tolerance and bridge building. To those that have been given much, much is to be expected.:)
