35 years post probation. It’s basically our worst 10 year stretch in that time in every way. 13 tourney wins in the past 10 tournaments beats the previous worst stretch from 2000-2009 which was 14 i think.

If there had been a tourney in 2020 that may have bumped it past the 2000-2009 era. But you take away the win from 2016 and replace it with whatever we won in 2020. But that 2020 team has been romanticised. They WERE eyeing a 2 seed…probsbly 3 at worst. But that was also the version of Calipari that lost to evansville at home and they were more likely to lose on the first round than they were to make a final four run.

Longest stretch in school history

No final four since 2015, 2nd longest drought
Also 1 title in 26 years. I'd be very surprised if that's not a first since Rupp took over - any other 25 year period without at least 2 titles?

Seems like something else happened around 25 years ago ... now what was it???

Only one championship between 1958-1996. That is 38 years.
1999 - 2026 and counting. At least 28 years with one championship.

I'm drawing a blank -- what happened 25 yrs ago? You mean 9/11? I'm assuming you're not talking about a Tubby S16 team?

1959-1995 was 36 years. Only title in between was 1978.

That’s all I got.

And you cheered and made excuses for both Pope and Calipari the whole time. Who could forget the "flavor of the month" threads from you, everytime Cal won and they lost.
No I didnt, look up the word nuance. Two things can be true at once. You can be a flaming moron with dumb opinions and I can still think our results are unacceptable.

You believing things like phil Jackson and coach k or whoever would come to uk just bc its uk is the level or reasoning we get from you.

Try harder, dismissed

If Todd golden and dan hurley keep winning championships theyll just be dying to come here!

what did everyone expect when the administration was putting out propaganda that it was ok to lose the all time wins lead and its only a stat, it doesnt matter etc. Sadly even some KSR people were going along with it. That was a sign that winning didnt matter to them

UK brass needs those profits and earnings so they can skim off the top, GOD I'd give anything for Beshear to call for an investigation into UK leaders.

That's depressing, and there really isn't anything positive looking forward at the moment.

KenPom says they would have been a 4 seed; BracketMatrix had them a 5 seed.

I actually argued the very same thing for 2 or 3 years with another poster on House of Blue and had the same stance as you. But that poster made a very good point to me.

Our ncaa tournament seed has matched our end of season ap poll ranking almost exactly for a long time.

Plus, despite bracket matrix having us as the top 4 seed (http://bracketmatrix.com/matrix_2020.html)

Resume wise we were like 9-2 versus quad 1 which that season would have been good for a 2 seed.

It still sort of depended on the committee. They usually weigh quad 1 and 2 wins more heavily than raw net ranking, which was 20th. i could have seen us getting anywhere from a 2 to a 4 seed.

Either way I don’t think that team was making a run. We were 29th in Kenpom and were weak at point guard and not a good rebounding team which are two things that get teams sent home early historically.

Kentucky fans always romanticise that team. “oh what could have been” but they were much more likely to get bounced in the first round than they were to make the final four.

I have never romanticized that team. They lost to Evansville at home and the Florida game that everyone brags about was only won because Blackshear didn't play the second half. Hagans was a head case, Sestina was soft, Brooks was Brooks, Richards was decent but not as dominant as everyone likes to think, and Maxey had a tendency to drive inside and throw it up looking for a foul when there weren't any options.

College Tyrese Maxey was only okay. He hit a couple big shots for us but he wasn’t consistent enough
