Longest stretch in school history
No final four since 2015, 2nd longest drought

Also 1 title in 26 years. I'd be very surprised if that's not a first since Rupp took over - any other 25 year period without at least 2 titles?Longest stretch in school history

Only one championship between 1958-1996. That is 38 years. Also 1 title in 26 years. I'd be very surprised if that's not a first since Rupp took over - any other 25 year period without at least 2 titles?
Seems like something else happened around 25 years ago ... now what was it???
And you cheered and made excuses for both Pope and Calipari the whole time. Who could forget the "flavor of the month" threads from you, everytime Cal won and they lost.Longest stretch in school history

I'll go out on a limb and say that streak will definitely extend to 29.Only one championship between 1958-1996. That is 38 years.
1999 - 2026 and counting. At least 28 years with one championship.
Did 1978 get vacated?Only one championship between 1958-1996. That is 38 years.

Ok, I meant 1959-1995. 36 years one championship.Did 1978 get vacated?
I'm drawing a blank -- what happened 25 yrs ago? You mean 9/11? I'm assuming you're not talking about a Tubby S16 team? Also 1 title in 26 years. I'd be very surprised if that's not a first since Rupp took over - any other 25 year period without at least 2 titles?

No I didnt, look up the word nuance. Two things can be true at once. You can be a flaming moron with dumb opinions and I can still think our results are unacceptable. And you cheered and made excuses for both Pope and Calipari the whole time. Who could forget the "flavor of the month" threads from you, everytime Cal won and they lost.
AtLeAsT wE’rE dOiNg BeTtEr ThAn WhEn CaL wAs CoAcH (Please ignore finishing lower in the SEC standings than Cal except the Covid year, where Pope still somehow managed to get lower than this last season). That's depressing, and there really isn't anything positive looking forward at the moment.
Mitch was hired 2002 - close enough to 25 yearsI'm drawing a blank -- what happened 25 yrs ago? You mean 9/11? I'm assuming you're not talking about a Tubby S16 team?
Right … last part of Rupp era + Joe B + Sutton.Ok, I meant 1959-1995. 36 years one championship.
Ahhhhh, thank you!Mitch was hired 2002 - close enough to 25 years
Here you go. For one month, since we didn’t make a S16. You won the wager. ^Ahhhhh, thank you!
KenPom says they would have been a 4 seed; BracketMatrix had them a 5 seed.
I have never romanticized that team. They lost to Evansville at home and the Florida game that everyone brags about was only won because Blackshear didn't play the second half. Hagans was a head case, Sestina was soft, Brooks was Brooks, Richards was decent but not as dominant as everyone likes to think, and Maxey had a tendency to drive inside and throw it up looking for a foul when there weren't any options.I actually argued the very same thing for 2 or 3 years with another poster on House of Blue and had the same stance as you. But that poster made a very good point to me.
Our ncaa tournament seed has matched our end of season ap poll ranking almost exactly for a long time.
Plus, despite bracket matrix having us as the top 4 seed (http://bracketmatrix.com/matrix_2020.html)
Resume wise we were like 9-2 versus quad 1 which that season would have been good for a 2 seed.
It still sort of depended on the committee. They usually weigh quad 1 and 2 wins more heavily than raw net ranking, which was 20th. i could have seen us getting anywhere from a 2 to a 4 seed.
Either way I don’t think that team was making a run. We were 29th in Kenpom and were weak at point guard and not a good rebounding team which are two things that get teams sent home early historically.
Kentucky fans always romanticise that team. “oh what could have been” but they were much more likely to get bounced in the first round than they were to make the final four.
