It's all relative, and only you know the value of your time. But if we want to sell it quickly, instead of sacrificing $800, why not be willing to accept $200 below private party? If you are valuing your car's condition honestly, you'd probably get a buyer quickly, perhaps with just an hour of time and effort on your part. Post an ad on craigslist, auto-trader, edmunds, etc. then meet with potential buyers. Even if that takes you 2 hours, it would still be like getting paid $300 per hour.
And if a buyer likes it at the Edmunds value, and agrees to buy it in the first hour, you just got paid $800 per hour.
