12-16 Penn State...they have never invited a sub 500 school. I would take this site with a grain of salt

Also read the disclaimer about all thise 7th and 8th seeds...thats 8 spots that will likely go to regular season conference winners who dont win their conference tourneys that will be auto qualifiers for NIT

I think if Ru win 2 they are on the bubble..a split in the big 10 tourney might be enough at 17-15

Any analysis that you do is AWFUL and a WASTE OF TIME if you don't understand and discuss the impact of conference regular season teams winning their conference tournaments.

Their could be 32 at large teams OR as little as 11. Bac could give you and idea.

There are 32 conferences. I'd think the following conferences regular season winner would be an at large bid.

1. B10
2. ACC
3. B12
4. SEC
5. BE
6 AAC - Houston
7. P12 - Washington
8. WCC-Gozaga
9. MAC-Buffalo
10. A10-VCU
11. MWC-Utah St.?

21 others are probably up in the air depending on conference toruments

the smaller conferences can take lots of bids. I dont think RU is a serious NIT contender until they win their next two, if they dont do that, forget about it unless an unlikely run to the finals of the Big 10 tourney

If we play SHU at SHU first round they better stinking open the upper deck

I could see this matchup happening in a 7/2 seed game. These games frequently happen though at alternate venues due to availability could be at Walsh Gym.

That’s my thinking....if that is to happen ..we will have had four games against good net rankings teams and three of them as wins

Think that gets our 94 net ranking into the 75 area ...

If you seed straight by ncaa net rankings, the last at large team will be around 50 and, figuring 8 or so confrence champs ...that will get the last team net ranking around 75.

17-15 will be close ...and I would mind this team playing some nit games on the road ...this will help this young team next year

Nebraska PSU and Indiana all below us in the conference standings but some reason are in while we are not .. sorry, doesn’t make any sense to me. BEAT PSU and we might be in with a win in the B1G tourney or @indy

With a very weak NCAA tournament bubble I’m also thinking that 17 wins might be enough for the NIT.

Does anyone weigh recent performance anymore. I thought the “last 10 games” metric was a great one. Get some teams in that are hell on wheels late but started slow for whatever reason.

I know the whole requirements of this changed some time ago where if you were in a major conference 500 record team you got in but because Rutgers lets say wins 2 more games. The fact RU is local, generating upward trajectory buzz, and the way they finished the year I think RU gets in.

If this team somehow finishes with 17 wins (either 17-15 or 17-16), they’ll be a huge buzz on this board as we await the NIT bracket announcements.

And if we get in and get a home game, we will blow the roof off the RAC.

I don't understand how Penn St. can go to the NIT with that record. It's not one or two games under .500 but substantially worse.

Bac,
I defer to your expertise
If we split the final two and split in the tourney is 16-16 good enough?
If not do we get a shot at CBI?

That's what Jerry Carino posted yesterday but wouldn't a SHU - RU NIT rematch draw enough fans to warrant the game at the Rock?

Devils have home games on the 19th and 21st... Not sure they'd want to force a basketball game in on the 20th.

Indiana is a ncaa contender. Their profile dwarfs RUs right now

Which is sad. They can’t even be two games under 500 in league. Just because they beat MSU twice they have a shot. This is so silly. I’d rather they give that slot to a lower division at large. Much more fun. I’m sure if it was RU with that profile, we’d be no where near that bubble.

they didnt just beat Michigan State...they beat Wisconsin, Marquette and Louisville plus PSU is another quad 1 win for them, that makes 6, more than any team on the bubble.

there will likely be multiple schools making the tournament with sub 500 conference marks..some may even be 4 games under .500

It would be a joke if we got in and had to play SHU at Walsh. That gym seats less than 3,000. talk about small time.

There is legitimate buzz about this. Multiple writers online saying RU is on the NIT bubble at the moment. Most seem to say we win our next 3 were a lock. So basically if we could beat psu, iu, ohio state, were a lock. Tall task. Most seem to think that even if we win 2 of 3 we could be in

According to John Templon (a NIT Bracketologist whom Jerry Carino praises) - he reevaluated our position and has our resume comparable to that of Arizona - as a soft 5 seed in the NIT. Check out his twitter as he posted this about 12 hours ago. Wow....would love to see us in the NIT.....or better yet, think big that we could win the B1G 10 Tourney...:)

Has the NIt dropped the .500 requirement if there ever was one? If PSU is getting in below 500 than an above 500 RU is getting in.

Carino wanna check on any nit rules? Thanks!
