I was sorry to see him go after he finished so strong last year. But he is 6th in scoring and 7th in minutes (17+/game) for the #1 team in the country - he made a good move. No hard feelings re this type of free agency. Some kids stay with programs and some bounce around. He has an RU degree and is helping a very good basketball team. Good for him.

Mind boggling we still have to read about Nigel Johnson after everything we know
plus knowing the type of team he's on now will help make him look better than his days at RU were.
I believe if Nigel stayed his play would be about the same that it was because of the talent around him.
At Virginia better talent around him makes him look better .
But his .289 from the 3 isn't something we'd brag about if he stayed. 5.1 scoring average isn't something to write home to mother about either.

Tradition!

The tradition or curse seems to have subsided

The official list of our transfers who went dancing (in my days of fandom at any rate):

Earl Johnson (Iona)
Josh Sankes (Holy Cross)
Dahntay Jones (Puke)
Luis Flores (Manhattan)
Charles Jones (LIU-BRK)
Zach Gibson (Michigan)
Jason McCoy (UW-Milwaukee)
Gregory Echenique (Creighton)
Mike Rosario (Florida)
Eli Carter (Florida)
Derrick Randall (Pitt)
Nigel Johnson (UVA)
Calvin Wooten (Oakland - made it in his transfer year as he sat out)

Close but no cigar:

Eugene Dabney - lost in the D2 Championship at Kentucky Wesleyan...which was then vacated bc he was ineligible
Mike Poole - lost in NIT w Iona
Vincent Garrett - lost in NIT w UW-Milwaukee (won 24 games, it was close)
Jerome Seagers - UNLV won 18 games
Glenn Stokes - St. Joseph's lost in NIT
Gilvydas Biruta - Rhode Island lost in 2nd round NIT 23 wins
Sam Sanders - South Florida lost in NIT

Others who sniffed nada -
Craig Brown - Kent State
Kerwin Okoro - Norfolk State
Justin Sofman - Monmouth
Billy Gilligan - Brookdale/Stockton
Austin Carrol - American University (now a coach at Arizona!)
Ollie Bailey - Oklahoma City
Dan Waterstradt - Oakland
Justin Goode - Broward College
Junior Etou - Tulsa

TBD -
DJ Foreman
Jonathan Laurent (umASS is awful, has 2 years)
Ibrahima Diallo (Manhattan - pretty bad this year too, not happening)

And then there's Todd Billett and his desire to dance at UVA..hahahaha nope!

Who else can I add to this official compendium of Rutgers attrition?

Juinor Etou (not looking good for the NBA level defender, Tulsa won't make it)
DJ Foreman (St. Louis won't make it this year, one year left)

Ibrahima Diallo (Manhattan - pretty bad this year too, not happening)
