I suspect SOMEONE will take that 3rd spot. We have so many option it's almost impossible that one of Askew, Mintz, Ware, Jackson, Fletcher, Brooks don't show out. Granted, we'd prefer it for a big to be the one to do so.. but the chances are likely that SOMEONE plays to their ranking or better.
But we had two studs in 2016 (Murray, Ulis) and two in 2018 (SGA, Knox), and both of those teams couldn't break the 27 win mark. The supporting casts on both of those squads were arguably better as well.
I mean, would you take Poythress, Briscoe, Matthews, Hawkins, Willis, Skal, Lee, Humphries, and Mulder or PJ, Gabriel, Diallo, Richards, Green, SKJ, and Baker (and Vanderbilt) over Haarms, Jackson, Ware, Askew, Mintz, Allen, Fletcher, and Brooks?
We've all been around long enough to understand what a solid team looks like, even in May when the roster foundations are being set. We also understand what a roster with a bunch of question marks looks like. Often, our expectations in both cases are met when the season finally unfolds.
The third stud doesn't always show up. Remember the Meeks/Patterson team, the Ulis/Murray team, the Crawford/Bradley team, the Noel/Goodwin team, the Knox/SGA team?
We knew going into each one of those seasons that something was missing - primarily, a third legitimate and consistent scoring option.
