It's the off season. If the conversations strictly adhered to wrestling ONLY, the board would be VERY barren...even with the childish back and forths, it is VERY slow and easy to navigate around if you don't care for it...
You overestimate our ability to act our age. I can say with absolute certainty that 83% of us stopped maturing at the 6th grade.
I would be ok with that at this point with 17% of posts worth reading.
You may well be right VBaby. My growth spurt was 5th to 6th and maybe slightly into 7th grade when I stretched to all of 5' 8" and quite possibly another 1/2 inch.
This is definitely optimistic…but they surprised me at NCAAs and damn near had 9 AAs so hopefully this isn’t too far off the mark.
125: Deluca - 6th - have been watching his old matches lately…a lot of folks have forgotten how fast and sharp he is. He just needs to stay healthy
133: Crookham - 3rd - obviously needs to stay healthy, maybe pitch count him…could win it all
141: Bailey - 7th - Didn’t realize how injured he was until NCAAs were over…he still should have AA’d
149: Block - 7th - Tough weight class but should still AA
157: Williamzzzz - 8th - Assuming he keeps his **** together, he has the ability to AA
165: Schubert - 8th - Solid portal acquisition…excited to see what he’ll do a weight class lighter
174: Arnold - 3rd - I’ll never doubt him again
184: Ferrari - 1st - He’ll beat Sinclair or Mac in the finals. Hope he starches Rocco. Please stay healthy
197: Ludington - RD16 - Solid prospect but needs another year before he’ll be an AA contender
285: Kueter - 2nd - Very bullish on Ben…could win it all but have him losing to Ross or Merrill in the finals
9 AAs, the streak stays alive, and the hawks finish 3rd with roughly 105 team points
So, what color of uniform is AJ going to be wearing for the upcoming season? Any idea?
I see 5 BIG question marks with that line up and 85 points if everyone stays healthy and eligible. But it should be an exciting dog fight for 4th place, imo.
No guarantees he can get that high and maintain the same level of speed and athleticism. It really is hard for lean heavyweights to gain weight and maintain it if they aren’t still naturally growing.
As has been said quite often about Kueter, normal every day wrestling routines burn a TON of calories. Fit heavyweights usually lose weight in season and, depending on their routines off season, have a pretty hard time putting healthy weight on even then…
Keuter had every bit the accolades coming out of high school as Ross and he didn't tear up the competition in his first year of heavyweight collegiate wrestling. Why is everyone convinced Ross will? What sets him apart?
Not playing football the summer/fall of his freshman year.
Style and skill set mainly based on perceived speed/quickness. Still, it is VERY hard to hit the ground running at 285. Mat wrestling is a major factor. I don’t doubt he will do very well, but I will need to see him wrestle some of the top guys at least midway into the season before I even consider putting him in the Finals…
Cassioppi looked far better before he went lean. Not saying he will lose a lot, but Ross will have rough sledding with the bigger and stronger college level heavies in a lengthy season.
B12 doesn't have a lot of top guys. Merrill is probably his toughest test. Volker and Carroll fairly tough. See what he gets at the national duals. Ziola and BK in non conference.
Ross's biggest advantage will be his in-room partners. Doucet and Hendrickson are big and can ride.
I think its a real possibility that Ross and Ben meet in the Semi's or finals. I think they both place top 5. This is how I would rank HWT right now.

Ross is young for his grade and has a lot of runway left as far as maturity, strength, and weight gain goes. He'll pack on more pounds. Keuter redshirted twice, once in 8th grade and again his first year at Iowa. He might be as heavy as he'll ever get while in college?
Endene at HWT I don't see him being able to go get one like he could at 197. He's short and won't be beating the 3 guys below him. Im not sure he beats anyone on the list
Exactly Dreshaun is 18 and will be 19 in December. I believe that's the same poster who's been hating on Ben for years

Haha. If you want to "redshirt" your kid, you typically do it in Kindergarten not 8th grade. Total douchebag move. Especially when you're a heavier weight kid, not a 90 pound 8th grader who's too light for 106. Corby, I want you to explain your logic on why a kid should "repeat" 8th grade when there's no other reason why besides athletics, not academics? I'm fairly certain Ben is a very bright and intelligent young man.

Yes, I'd have him in the 15 range. Red shirt freshman coming off a injury and didn't compete last year. I think thats fair.
I tend to agree with you. I let wrestlestat sway my ranking there. I think they have him at #2 or something crazy. He should probably be closer to 20 than 10. I'm going to edit him down a few spots
8th grade is actually the grade most kids repeat. Bassett I believe did 8th twice and I think Schwab boys as well. So if it's kindergarten it's ok why?
