32-18 is failing miserably? Coming on the heels of Charlie Strong having just been fired at 16-20?
I had to go back and look at his record and he did not fail miserably there. There were some inexplicable losses (one to Kansas..Kansas!). Didn’t beat TCU and Oklahoma enough.

You are correct, Charlie Strong had a way worse record. I’m not a fan of Texas so I should have researched that one. So my bad!

Possible he could be a good hire? Better than Frost for sure. I like Aranda though.

I think you should keep Frost. He's about the only coach Nebraska might be able to get right now after firing Pelini for 9 win seasons and then hiring the last couple of guys. Doubt there's many guys lining up to come to Nebraska after that...
The powers that be don’t care who Nebraska fans on a Nebraska message board want for head coach.

That means they would care even less what a purdue fan on a Nebraska message board thinks. lol

No problem here, I'm sure I posted some numbers that I didn't research ahead of time.

I'm not advocating for Herman, although, I do think he's a real good coach. When you're the OC/QB coach for Meyer at OSU and can elevate their #3 QB into the starting role against Bama and win the national title, that shows me something. Outside of Ezekiel and the rest of the all-star offensive talent.

Herman did a great job at U of Houston (22-4) in two years, and I just feel Texas is next level higher than NU in regards to expectations in football. They'll dump a coach in 2-3-4 years no problem, regardless of the buyout, cause they aren't afraid of paying huge money if they get the right guy.

Texas wants the same thing us Husker fans do. To be not relevant, but elite. They have the population base to make it happen a lot faster than us, but joining the SEC is gonna an eye opener for them. They get the first taste of it when they play Bama in a few weeks.

Have a good one.

Excellent points!

It is possible we may never be Elite level every year and I’m realistic enough to know this. There is certainly no reason we can’t be near the top of Big-10 West or at least challenging for the top spot on a yearly basis. The culture is so bad right now and it’s mind boggling.

Couple names that have already been mentioned are interesting. Seeing now the the Big 12 and the Pac12 are kind of imploding I wonder if you might be able to pull Aranda away from Baylor. That dude has a really calming way about him and is pretty low on the drama meter. Another that has scuffled a little as of late, but would maybe be a decent fit is David Shaw. If Utah can't find a landing spot in the Big 10, I would make a run at Kyle Whittingham. All bigger schools. The are a few mid major guy, but a big time target for a fair amount of people would be Fickell at Cincy.
Shaw is a big NO. He has lost his mojo. Mailing it in. 11-19 over the last 3 seasons. Why would we fans wanted another tarnished coach? Kyle would be great, but as I have written before he likes to make a few runs on his snowboard in the morning. That would be pretty hard to do in Lincoln.

No. I'm not using it as an excuse for our losing today. It's an unhealthy state of mind that DOESN'T win championships. It's a defensive attitude that doesn't allow you too see your faults and make corrections. It's this cancer that gets you boat raced against any team with a pulse.

Its won championships too.

Players never play for the fans.

Thays literally the dumbest reason ever to play for.

They play for themselves and their teammates. US

Chris Peterson literally just told Frost that's what he needs to do.

And it won us 3 divisional championships...lol

No it doesn't. You totally don't understand Pelini at all. "Them" is the fans. He sucked and got the team to play against the fans instead of working to get better. Should have fired his *** in 2012 after the B1G CCG.

Pelini's problem was not the fans, it was Eichorst and the Media

The ahole that released that tape ruined this program cause they didn't allow Pelini to fail so a good coach wouldn't mind coming here.

He sucked. Wouldn't recruit. Lose to any team that was good. 9 wins maybe 10 with bowl game. You know what that got us? A whale trophy and ZERO conference championships. That and he was a lunatic. No doubt he should have been fired. He was CANCER. Eff BO PELINI!

If Ruhle would stay at NU for 15-20 years, he would be on my short list of the very best available coach who has shown he can turn programs around and go double digit wins. Those 10-2, 10-3 become 11-1, then 10-2, then 11-1, then 12-0. Kinda like another guy who retired here 25 years ago.

Pelini circled the wagons against all his detractors. It was the team vs everyone else.

in a state with talent everyeere.

Good players don't want to play in a lily white state aymore.

Yall are living 20 years in the past.

Wokeness has changed things.

How many northern teams have won anything in the past 10 years.

Ohio St.

I was always a big Bo supporter, but the situation is similar to Trump. You get a media that starts asking baited questions looking for drama to get clicks, and some fans also take the bait. You then get an administration wanting to seize more power who then piles on with the media.

The average fan is not really part of the equation. Their culpability is feeding the media with the clicks in the first place.

No. There are plenty of guys that could win big here. Look at #1 on that list, that would be a massive home run hire for us.
Ruhle is the only coach I've seen who went from turning around a G5 school (Temple) and go right into a P5 school (Baylor) and turn them around too.

Frost can't do it, Mike Norvell can't do it, Luke Fickell hasn't done it YET, Fuentes couldn't do it. Only Ruhle.
